Standard issue weapon in Army

@Keshav Murali

If you get hit by a 7.62mm, youre dead. One shot one kill!

No. Even 9x18 mm is as lethal as 7.62x51 in close ranges if it hits in the right place. In the right place.

We didn't see SU and North Vietnam soldiers dying of a single M14 shot did we? :no:

Assault rifles are meant for ranges upto 400 m.

5.56 mm fragments much more than 7.62x51 and is much more lethal on a normal body hit, simply because it fragments rather than just punching through.

7.62x51 normally creates small exit holes and minimal organ damage while 5.56x45 does not make exit holes at all, and fragments completely, injuring a person's internal organs grievously.

It is just so much better at long ranges where small rounds tend to lose energy and become less accurate and useful.

I will give you images for this later today, gotta go.

(Call of duty creates major misconceptions. I recommend you see theboxotruth - it gives realistic wound penetration values for many types of ammunition)

This guy who's firing the rifle is not supposed to be holding the magazine whilst firing!!! That's the worst thing to do! There's either a 'pistol grip' that one's supposed to hold or cradle the rifle with the hand by the hand guard. I thought that's the first thing they teach? But it doesn't seem to be the case here! :azn:

There were plans to replace G-3 with another 7.62x39mm weapon from Heckler and Koch. There also were plans to replace MP-5 with VZ-58.

However, the plans were dropped in the end due to financial strains. It has been decided to upgrade G-3, which means another decade of service.
Love the upgrades.
But really sad to hear the VZ-58 was scrapped. Was really looking forward to it.
