This may be the ploy to get more income from the sales of automobiles from India. India accounts for 50% market share in Srilanka. May be they want Indian manufacturing industries in Srilanka.

If that is it they want India is ready to establish a local plant there.

If we can't reap any benefits from the FTA, then no point for abiding on such liability. Perhaps it's time for India to rise the excise duty on Chinese companies to let European companies have a fare competition on pricing in Indian markets.

In 2011, Sri Lanka exported $ 50 Mn of garments, woven fabrics and other textiles to India. Lanka’s “garment exports” to India alone was $ 25.56 Mn in 2011 and garments were Sri Lanka’s fifth export item to India.

We do manufature motorcycles U know (except the engine). Our Walton industries plans to manufacture cars by 2015. I am not celebrating yet though , but we do make motor cycles and there is a plan to make cars as well.
