Sino-Bangladesh road link

No one is making India an adversary, according to your logic....BD has the right to think about its interest FIRST and then about her neighbors....

According to you again, it seems like we cannot do anything that displeases India....come on, India should be that practical to understand its related politics....that is how things go about....

Must have heard about the term "opportunity cost" right....

Cheers!!!

Opportunity cost for whom India? How is India gaining from Bangladesh-China relationship? I think India would be fine with anything that doesn't threaten its security. India Bangladesh trade is too small for India to care.

I had expected you to get it....its the opportunity cost for BD....

However, moving over to the term 'security'....i believe the whole discussion here is about connecting with China and following that, transit to our ports....there is nothing India has to worry about its 'security' and especially, when it is just for the countries' economic cooperation and benefit....

And as you said...."India Bangladesh trade is too small for India to care.", i think the discussion is over here itself....

Cheers!!!

.
Whatever, 90% BDmen have full trust on China where India is always suspicious.

Good for you

I don't care if you love each other or hate India or whatever, my post was to refute a certain point that's it!

Don't take it out of context !

Sure, I am also tired of doing this. We can agree to disagree.

This is infact a old story thread.

1) Bangladesh will never let India to host any strategic installation like port in BD's soil. No government ever will dare to do that. Why? The simple answer "WE DONT TRUST INDIANS".
2) Bangladesh will never let any Indian oil and gas companies the right to explore. Why? The answer is "WE DONT TRUST INDIANS".
3) Bangladesh will not let Indian vehicle to go unattended in the name of transit. The anwser is again "SECURITY AND TRUST".
4) Bangaldesh will never buy military hardware from India. Why? Again "WE DONT TRUST INDIANS".
6) China will start constructing the Deep Sea Port from January next month. We just love to see Indian concern on that. But India could do $hit about it.
7) We will construct Chittagong-Kumming rail and road link and the work already started long before so called Asian Highway synonym of Indian corridor. We got our priority set. China is more important than India.

How India is beneficial to us.
1) We want to sell our products to 1 billion Indian consumer.
2) We want to make money through transit.
3) We want Indian cotton, maise, onions, iron ore and other raw material for our Indsutrialised country and sell the finished product back to India and make more and more money.

India is just our money making machine for future.. Nothing more... :cheesy:

China is Vietnam and Taiwan's biggest trade partner. Vietnam has trade more than 80 bln dollar with China.

Bengladesh unlike vietnam is surrounded by India from 3 sides.Even the ships coming to BD hvae to pass the eyes of the Indian Navy. However you look at it if you think you can have bad relations with India and live happily is not gonna happen.I mean its easy to do a patriotic chest thumping but to face reality is a nother issue

.
No country that has trade relations with China has a trade surplus. If you want your current account to go even negative, resulting in bankruptcy please go ahead, no one would stop you. Look at Pakistan, it imports close to $5.5 billion worth of goods from China while exports only $1.5 billion. What Pakistanis don't understand is that this is causing heavier strain on their economy as their manufacturing base would come under severe pressure to compete against China. Bangladeshis with their hatred towards India are just willing to ignore the basic economics. Whether you like it or not, Bangladesh will find it hard to survive without India's market.

yeah so true pity china had abt 30 billion trade surplus with india the second biggest after USA and continue increasing, oh man you indian is so good at economic.:rofl::rofl:

Dude that's exactly what I said. You just repeating my statements. No country has trade surplus with China. If Bangladesh wants to do trade with China, it has to brace for still larger negative current account. Because trade would be mostly one sided.

Ya ship coming to BD have to pass through the eyes of Indian NAVY. So? Can you afford to stop them???:rofl::rofl:

Have India released any official statement regarding this link or we are fighting shadows here?

Dude, wait a second, I study Management at Harvard. Sorry, my mother fed me well enough to get into one of the top universities of the world.

Oh really? Now I have a new found respect for you!:agree:.................NOT! :D If you really like to brag about your current school or alma mater, please don't let Harvard students and alumni down by posting stuffs devoid of critical thinking. Besides, I have seen and read extremely well written and thought-out posts from Indians residing in India who never had to go to your "top universities". <- So if that is your one-liner argument to justify your ignorance, I rather not waste my time here.

Please care to explain how is Pakistan benefiting from china's trade.Last time I checked, Pakistan was trying to reduce the trade imbalance with China. So is every other country. But who's value adding here, you seem to think Pakistan has the manufacturing base and China is supplying it raw materials. No my friend, it's the other way around. Please explain how Pakistan trade works in intelligent brain of yours.

No I actually don't need to explain anything here. It's you who made a baseless claim: Pakistan's economy is heavily strained by the trade imbalance; now you justify your claim. It's always in Pakistan's interest to decrease the trade gap and reap greater benefits from its trade with China. But the gap in China's favor and the desire of Pakistanis to decrease the gap does not justify your claim! Pakistan gets raw materials for it's value added products mostly from China - so the trade with China definitely does not create "HEAVY STRAIN".

You go do your own research on this and let me know if you find something contrary to my statement.

I am talking out of my a$$? I don't want to insult your intellect.

LoL.

I am just stating the obvious, Bangladesh because of its geography depends on trade with India for its survival. Currently Bangladesh exports mostly to EU, but with coming EU-India FTA, it likely to loose almost 70% of its trade. Diplomatic ties are very different from economic ties, latter are needed for survival and former for influence. You should know which would take preference.

Please provide sources for the following claims:

- Bangladesh cannot survive if India imposes trade embargo.
- 70% of BD-EU trade will be gone forever after EU-India FTA is implemented.
- Why diplomatic ties ARE NOT needed for survival and why economic ties ARE NOT needed for influence.

Regarding my misunderstanding of the typos, I am sorry, I really thought he was talking Bangladesh Force. Not so good at military stuff. And regarding routes, like I said Burma would not go against India to provide access to smaller Bangladesh. Also, I thought there is a conflict between Bangladesh and Burma. Is there not?

"Not good at military stuff" is not so good a justification to post nonsense.

Burma WOULD and the road is already being constructed currently. What makes you think Burma is so subservient to India? Chinese green signal is good enough to make Burma do things, anything. :D

It was not a large-scale conflict. China wouldn't let that happen. Read some old news before you post, my friend.;)
