Singapore and Malaysia haven’t much people. The demand would be minimal.
It’s better to wait on Vietnam Hsr. We have 100 million people. Different scenario.

The initial investment in a hsr line is very difficult to recoup.
And the power consumption at high speeds makes even operational profits difficult, unless the load is good and the fares are on the higher side. Parallely non transport revenue in the form of shopping complexes , advertisement, etc form a large part of the revenue stream.

In China only the Beijing Shanghai route is profitable out of hundreds of routes. The operation has to be subsidized to be run.

Many Indonesian young leaders get good education and have good command of English. At least our new potential generation leaders are master degree holder at minimum and one of them like Jakarta governor is a Phd holder. You can look some of them in latest page of Indonesia economic thread being interviewed/having discussion in English.

While Soekarno, first leader is bachelor degree, Soeharto is soldier, Habibie is Phd, Gusdur is bachelor degree, Megawati just study in university (drop out)-our worst President, SBY is soldier (US educated military academy), Jokowi is bachelor degree. Actually all the leaders here can speak English well, including Soekarno.

My understanding is, Indonesia politicians are more and more like western politicians, which need good appearance, good public speech skills, energetic, as charming as possible.

The governance skills and background is less relative, it's more about elections campaign, fund-raising.

Ridwan Kamil has architecture design degree, and suddenly become Mayor of Bandung, 5 years later become Governor of West Java.

Looks like the Malaysian side wanted to disband the the joint venture company. Without it Singapore cannot trust a project manage from Malaysia side only. Siphoning money from project is a norm in Malaysia.

Since independence pro Malaysian policies were needed to help the more rural ethnic Malaysian population because the ethnic Chinese were not about to share with other groups. I am sure Vietnam did much worse to its chinese minority's.

The previous Najib administration and Singapore signed into contract, to have a neutral "Asset company", serving as a firewall against corruption (Malays always give bloated price, kickbacks to their contractors). Current PM Muhyiddin wants to remove the "asset company".

Vietnam did much worse. Malay discriminate ethnic Chinese in their constitution officially. I won't complain if this is only about welfare and subsidies to ethnic Malay. This is official discrimination politically.
Can you tolerate you are discriminated as second class citizens in your own country Pakistan or UK?

I did NOT mock ethnic Malay, I am just saying the fact.

Actually Malay long respected Prime Minister Mahathir openly expressed the same concerns as mine. He said the same thing, ethnic Malay is too lazy and less motivated, even though Malay has subsidized ethic Malay for decades, the gap is growing bigger and bigger. That's the words out of his mouth.

Malay as a country won respects in 1980s -1990s, during Mahathir administration. I wouldn't "mock" their corruption issues and incompetence back then.

The ethnic malays were always wealthy people since even before Islam and during Islams golden age and in the modern era and they had one of the wealthiest sultanates due to geo-location they were always crafty traders. They were always wealthy people and the chinese came to benefit from the platform offered to them by the wealthy malays and their superior systems that were more tolerant and peaceful environment compared to the one they came from. Malays didn't need them for prosperity or anything in that matter. Malaysia is more developed then China. Malaysia is 1st world and China is 2nd world

Ethnic Malay actually are same as Chinese, are immigrations to Malay peninsula.
