SINDH HIGH COURT STAYS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION

Sindh is against these plants from start, that's why i think we should find feasible place in Punjab.

Sindh is against everything development. Because Sindh wants to stay like jahil feudals. They love getting banged by their waderas.

On topic, I always thought it was a bad Idea to put any Nuclear plant in close proximity to a major city. They might want to explore the land somewhere in Balochistan where there are no population issues. All you have to do is setup a township for employees, which PAEC already does, and extend the powerlines. Electricity travels at the near speed of light in a good conductor, so distance isn't exactly of concern here, neither is access to fuel, since you are not importing coal/oil/gas that you need access to a port.

if they don't want them… make it in punjab…

It's a valid concern. Punjab has too many population centers. Ideal place would be Balochistan or Interior Sindh.

this is a good thing

If you're unsure about the safety of a nuclear reactor, you should'nt build one! Imagine something goes wrong, and this reactor is right next to Karachi. Karachi could become a Chernobyl if something goes wrong.

If you notice: they aren't against a nuclear reactor. They just want everyone to plan for it first. Like he said Karachi would also need a way to evacuate if something goes wrong and we can't do that yet. You should be concerned that the authorities didn't plan for this in advance.

It's like getting mad at your instructor because he won't let you go skydiving without a backup parachute.

there will always a very simple logic against every development
Its very simple,

Marsun Marsun Sindh na deasun

These waderas never want to lose their grip from their full time ayashi!

Thats why it was being built on the coast. In case of a Melt down, there will be plenty of water to dowse the reactor and no nearby population to get harmed.
Plus Packston has an impeccable nuclear safety record, and the manufacturers the Chinese are not new either.

Gadani Coal power Project also cancelled for now.
Nuclear power plants stayed by Highcourt.
No progress on any hydel dams.

What the hell is this government doing for power shortage in the country?

When our Navy and PAF bases are not safe in Karachi how can be nuclear reactor safe ? Beluchistan is a good solution, while regarding the Beluchis they should get the full benefit from this project !

Chashma, Khushab etc. KANUP has been operating safe for so many decades.

We are a third world country with security issues. We need to stop romanticizing and getting an erection over nuclear power. We need to work over hydro-electric power.

With the kind of poor work ethic and professional competency we have, nuclear power plants are dangerous.

.
These are Gen3 reactors based on Westinghouse AP-1000. They have inbuilt safety mechanism and comparing it to Chernobyl is a joke. The project should be restarted ASAP.
