The PN is asked to do much with a small budget. A few key systems can make or break a good defense. The FL-3000N while having 20G maneuverability, has a 6 km max range. The FL-3000N comes in many variants including a 24 cell launcher. The Pantsir has a maximum range of 15 km and has been actively engaged in Syria. A Chinese program to upgrade the FL-3000N with a missile and independent guidance system similar to the latest S22 Greyhound Pantsir design can afford the PN to upgrade its warships with adequate defense at a reasonable price, with little structural changes.

Employing an upgraded FL-3000N launcher forward, and a couple Type 730 CIWS in the rear, the F-22P can have a decent independent air defense.

The Chinese are already experimenting with it.

An upgrade plan for the F-22Ps is already in the discussion phase and is considering all possible upgrades/modifications.

All these mods depend on the structural limitations of the basic platform, which has to be keep in mind keeping in mind the Ships stability.

Respected member can u explain whether short range FL3000N and CIWS are enough to tackle Brahmos, further which SAMS are more effective for naval defense short range or long range?

Is Dk-10 or DK-9C under consideration??

PN should also look other means to add more protection for its fleet.

. . . .
6km range is useless no matter what

Nope, if system is accurate, fast and can response in time then its good enough for last layer of protection specially against munitions.

We need at least medium to long rang Sam to defend against su30 or rafale and mig29 naval variant.
Take the platform out instead of munition so enemy don't return for another attack with munition they can come wave after wave. With 10-15 su30 or rafale down they will go defensive on naval war and will think about attacking again and for good aerial protection we need provide atleast one heavy air superiority fighter squadron to deny any misadventure from su30/rafale on arabian sea. So 6 km range is good for only self defence against munition but modern day missiles are difficult to defend against at short ranges

Type-54A will at least have HQ-16 MR-SAM with 40km range and if "B" version is purchased then range will be 70km.

Even with HQ-9 (200km range) PN will not be able to hit Su-30s with 300km range Brahmos.

Sir further to add the best defense should be layered one at least consisting short rnage and medium range SAMs assuming that so far HQ9 can't be fitted in any of PN ships due to whole system weight and mass. The better choice should be to arm PN F22 Ps with Umokhonto block-2 and Umokhont-ER mix as well as upcoming ADA class Turkish Corvettes. Meanwhile Type 54 A should have layered SAM coverage i.e HQ16B with 70+KM range and FL3000N along with CIWS.

If we go for medium and short range SAMs both then interception of ASHMs shall be more effective i.e first intercept option shall be at longer ranges say 60-70KM meanwhile again at 7-10KM. Meanwhile the performance of Russian SAMs in case of Syria is questionable and this is perhaps more to do with inefficiency of Syrian AD personnel and superior counter tactics by Western allies, before adopting Russian SAMs our experts should deeply observe the on ground performance of these SAMs rather than only considering economy.

Most of air threat will be engaged by air before they can launch and once launched then ship defenses kick in

Most of ship have chaff/flare type decoys to confuse and evade in coming missiles f-22p and even type-21 and other pn ships like missile craft have them , launcher at the back

.
Milgem Project corvettes which Pakistan are going to buy have a max instrumented range of 250KM only.

But We have Babur Cruise missile which is an AShM in reply of India's Brahmos with range of 400++ KM. Don't worry brother!

How a Babur CM can intercept Aircraft carrying 300km supersonic AShM??

Kindly read post carefully before response.
