In my view, it was a mistake for Vietnam to send troops into Cambodia and overthrow the Khmer Rouge regime.

The most reasonable option is that Vietnam should plant mines and build border defenses to prevent Khmer Rouge infiltration.

It doesn't matter which regime the Cambodians are under, they all hate Vietnam. If the Khmer Rouge regime can last a few more years, they will exterminate most of Cambodia's population, permanently weaken Cambodia, they will dig their own graves and no longer pose a threat to Vietnam.

Yeah I agree. Vietnamese leaders must tread carefully. Vietnam's rise as an economy is due in no small part to Chinese help.
