Quite a good idea actually.
Taking on from your idea, how about 'INDUSTAN'. It will make an instant connection to the already existing name, which matters to people.
Don't you want us to add an 'H' behind that?
@OP- Give me one good reason why. We don't need to give a reason why not if you can't a give a reason why we should

.
Pakistan is fine. Indus was cool too, until i realized that there are some other unwanted countries whose names start with an I.

Which other letters you don't particularly like?

H for it's the starting letter of the word Hindu
J for it's the starting letter of the word Jew
A for it's the starting letter of the word America
B for it's the starting letter of the word Bharat
D for it's the starting letter of the word Denmark
so on...

.
I'm all for 'CHIPAK' or 'SOUTH KASHMIR'. Reasoning given earlier.

lol looks like OP has fled the scene. Sobbing in a corner, eh?

.
Change your nick to just American, I am proud of name Pakistan.

india did not exist before 1947

Proof

The Independence Day of India is celebrated on the fifteenth of August to commemorate its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation in 1947.[1] The day is a national holiday in India. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted by the local administration in attendance. The main event takes place in Delhi, the capital city of India, where the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. In his speech, he highlights the achievements of his government during the past year, raises important issues and gives a call for further development. The Prime Minister also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle.

I ll give the reason. The looks he gets when he tells his fell american citizens about the country of his origin. He thought a name change would help him in distancing him from the word "Pakistan" which is used synonymously with Terrorism, Religious Fascism etc.,
