I like that Mushaf flew SOLO on F-16s during March 23rd...don't know why but recent CAS's have been flying GIBS and not sure why that is the case...all CAS should be F-16 pilots. Kaleem Saadat flew GIBS and so did Rao Qamar and the current CAS.

Yes - RIP all of you.

I knew two of these individuals during the 80s when my father was an Air Commodore and I was a teenager.

I met ACM Mushaf when he was a group captain in 1983/84 when he was the PSO to ACM Shamim. Shamim used to golf with my dad and Mushaf used to show up once in a while although he did not golf well...he started taking lessons though..but I remember him being a very quiet yet a gentlemen (PSOs tend to be quiet in front of ACMs)

During the same period, AVM Saleem Nawaz (then Sqn Ldr) was the ADC to Shamim and he used to golf everyday with my dad and Shamim...very pleasant person. While he did not golf initially, he learnt very quickly. I remember I went to Peshawar with Sqn Ldr Saleem to participate in a single club tournament and Saleem won the trophy that day...that was quite a achievement. I really enjoyed my time with him. He is the son of another very senior air force officer, AVM Rab Nawaz

During his tenure as OC Flying No.33 Wing at Kamra AB, then Group Captain Mushaf Mir got operational very quickly on F-16s with No.14 squadron (even though there was no need to go operational), and he would fly regularly with the squadron pilots (even more than the junior officers).

AVM Saleem Nawaz's brother was also in PAF as a fighter pilot.....I believe his name is (or was) Akhtar Nawaz....I could be wrong about his name....

Kaleem Sadaat, Rao Qamar Suleman were not operational on F-16s......but then again the current air chief was operational on F-16s and even he sits in the back. The most recent air chief that flew the F-16 from the front seat (with a safety pilot in the backseat) during the March 23rd parade flypast was ACM Tanvir (he flew F-16s operationally at one point in his career).

A Great loss of PAKISTAN.

RIP to Departed Souls. :(

All about if you're rated to fly:
1) Solo
2) Front-seat (with a safety pilot in the back in case of a dual-seater)
3) GIBS (preferably with having passed a flight physical...who knows what level PAF operates on).

So there are a number of variables to be looked at. Some are better are it, while the rest just try to maintain the tradition of at least attending the flypast, even if it is riding as GIBS.

I thought ACM Tahir Butt flew solo in F-16s during the fly past

From my POV every chief should be qualified for the second one at least.

Yes I agree. If not F-16s but any platform where they can fly from the front seat.

Let it be F 7 PG's but they should fly from front seats.
