I think you are ignoring the pan Islamic identity here. The Kashmiris are not fighting for a secular free state. But an Islami Nizam. I sometimes wish we all keep our national identities secndary and focus on our being Muslim first. This attachement of Kashmir with Pakistan alone has hurt it. Many Indian mUslims are sympathetic to Kashmir but they are ignored because they belong to India. This is unfair.

He is free to toe his country's line. Although Pakistan's hypocrisy on the Kashmir issue is downright laughable.

1. They want "freedom" for Kashmir
2. But still chant "Kashmir banega Pakistan"
3. Have named the part of Kashmir they occupy as "Azad" Kashmir
4. Except it reports directly to Pak
5. Happily gave away part of Kashmir to China.

If the Kashmir dispute didn't exist, Pakistan would create one just to justify its own existence. Pak can't continue to define itself as "not India" - if they have an identity crisis, they must deal with it themselves. Kashmir belongs to all Kashmiris - Muslims, Pandits, Buddhists and Sikhs. The rights of a minority in the region can't be sacrificed to accommodate the wet dreams of a majority.
