Recently a thread was opened which relied on a propaganda campaign against Iran investigating a fake Christian pastor and his connections to foreign intelligence agencies working towards "regime change" policies of United States.
On that thread some Americans like Thomas, tried to portray a negative picture of Iran and raise rhetoric of war against that nation by preparing a hostile public opinion to that nation. As a person who is anti-war, I was dismayed by their actions.
Since we all belong to the same species and are connected with each other, no single event can be interpreted just by looking at that event without relating it to other events of our collective existence. So just demonizing Iran and having a fanciful picture of United States is a hypocrisy which must be avoided at all time. US media generally uses deception and lies to achieve its goals through two prisms of values. The first prism is the moral prism. The moral prism tries to picture the world for Americans public as black and white. Through this prism the US corporate media paints an immoral society out of its perceived enemies and feeds on lies and propaganda to show that countries like Iran are morally corrupt and thus war with them justifiable. This prism works by using propaganda such as Iran is evil as it kills its opponents and rapes and tortures etc. etc.
The second prism of United States media works on the principle of necessity and strategic importance. So if the United States kills its opponents, rapes and tortures, these are portrayed as necessity and strategic deeds which might be horrible but are good and unavoidable for American public benefit. This pragmatic prism then justifies wars and torture and mass killings in order to combat the perceived enemies of United States.
So it is pertinent to discuss United States through the prism of morality here and see what comes out of it. As first example I want to pull out of history a single event which shows United States is against religious freedom to begin with. On the said thread, the accusation against Iran is of the same nature portraying Iran as an anti-christian nation, without any regards for the fact that it was Iran which saved Armenian Christians from massacres of great war and world war I. Also there is no regard in that thread for the fact that Iran as a nation has the right to investigate anyone who tries to mess with its sovereignty be it an Alqaida supporter or a Christian pastor. After all we should not forget that Christianity has always been side by side with colonialism conquering non-white nations and stealing from them. The two versions of Christianity one which is preached among the indigenous population which is docile and disarming and the other version which promotes war and conquering of other people which is preached among western armies. These are historical facts.
