What's new

Set us free, plead Saudi princesses

No, not on all matters. There is a distinct difference between men and women. There are certain issues that women are supposed to excel in while the men should excel in other areas. I prefer to keep it that way.

Other than that there is full equality.

I for instance dislike when women are doing manly things. That's not against any law but I dislike it nevertheless. Women should be feminine and be good at taking care of children, doing the food, managing the home, welcoming guests and so forth and so forth. That does not stop them from accelerating on other areas be it work-related or professionally related.

When I see the behavior of some women in the West I am close to vomiting.

I think most women would be insulted that you pigeon hole them into housewives.

Yes, some women actually enjoy being housewives. Most don't.

I watched a video yesterday of a very feminine Polish truck driver.

The behaviour of some women in the west is perhaps as a reaction to a very long period of being suppressed. This is their time to "let go". Don't ever think that your women are born with an innate finesse. Without religious police, overbearing brothers/fathers and strict laws - many of them would be getting drunk and falling out of nightclubs.

This is a right for any women who want to act like this as long as she does not harm others.

We may not like it, but you have no business stopping them.

Where did I say that a women's life is confined to being a housewife? That is creative elaboration from you.

I said that those are aspects that I cherish in a woman. The maternal love in other words that every man should know about. I want my wife to have those abilities not only for the sake of myself but mostly for my future children. Since that is how my mother was/is.

I even said that this should not be a hindrance in their pursuit of professional or academic success. I have 2 older sisters and one younger sister and obviously a mother (LOL). All of them are academics and are considered equals on all levels but they are still women and treated as such.

Why is it that we should treat them as men?

I just gave my opinion. I don't like manly women. Nor do I like cheap whores that are flooding the streets of the West. The ones bragging about their sexual conquests each day. This is not something I cherish in a woman.

Tell me about it. UAE is next door and we can freely visit it whenever we want. That's not the point. Of course there would be such cases but in the minority due to cultural reasons.

Western women did not behave like they do today prior to 1968.

But I don't want such a extreme society. I want to find a balance between religion, culture, customs and modernity. And I think that we are heading in the right direction in KSA and other GCC states.

I think there should be a distinct line between the pursuit of personal freedom and then the moral, social and religious obligations that most humans still follow. At least in the ME.

They should come to Taksim to go out. I'm sure they will like the ride :)

Well, most people prefer that women behave with some decency and modesty.

However, I want to see that from men too - not just women

The distinction is what you'd like and what you can enforce. In my opinion, you cannot enforce anything. Each person is in charge of their own destiny and behaviour. As long as that behaviour does not injure others in any way, they can be drunk and sleep around.

Yes, this current trend in women's behaviour (minority of women) is from the 1960's where we were all facing the possibility of a nuclear holocaust and people wanted to be 'free'.

In Israel the non-religious girls wear very skimpy clothing - but in general don't fall about drunk and puke in the streets.

So maybe it's also a cultural thing.

Of course but we all know that many women have lost the touch between personal freedom and moral values and decency. Men too. You know very well how family values have turned for the worse in the West since 1968. All those social and familiar problems are not a coincidence if you ask me.

I am not enforcing anything here. I am giving my own personal view. In most countries there are certain rules, moral and social conducts and values that the MAJORITY adhere to for the good and bad. KSA is one of such countries.

Yet, it would be interesting to see if you have a problem with the moral values or life of the many conservative Jews across the world and especially in Israel? I mean how big a percentage do the ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel constitute? 10% ? Most rapidly growing population as well.
