SC: It's' Bangladeshi nationalism:Fifth Amendment Ruling

Slap to Awamis face and I love it. It's time to celebrate. :victory:

:))) i think two days back when i commented that Bangladeshis preferred to be identified as Bangladeshis instead of Indian version of "Bengali", then a BD member apparently pro-India commented that pre 47 tactics/politics wont work.

I am glad that BD constitution has cleared the air

At least I cant agree any less than that. Bengali nationalism came in being taking in consideration of West Bengal and Assam. But we moved a long way from pre 1971 era to 21st century. Bangladeshi nationalism is the best thing to do now.

I would be surprised if YOU did agree with me.

Bengali and Bangladeshi are the synonyms of two.

These are not synonyms.

Ask any Muslim Bangladeshi that: Are you Bangladeshi or Bangali?

Then he will proudly reply that: I'm Bangladeshi.

So, if those were synonyms or convey the same meaning then some would say "I'm Bangladeshi" and some would say "I'm Bangali", and every Muslim Bangladeshi would not say only and proudly that "I'm Bangladeshi".

But how much is the tendency in BD people to claim Indian Bengal or to think in terms of greater Bengal or Greater Bangladesh ??????

So far i havent seen any. On the other hand may be there some very rare sentiments of Indian Bengalis when it comes to ethnicity sharing with BD

How is it between Afghanistani Pashtuns and Pakistani Pashtuns?

Why not calling yourself Bangladeshi Bengali? And what about Hindu and Budhhist Bangladeshis?

I/we want to be uniquely so-called Bangladeshi. Some of them like to think as Bangladeshi and some of them as Bangali. But democracy says: Majority must be...........ed."

Do you ever make any sense?

Bangladesh can not be called secular as it has majority of Muslim population but nationality can not be called Bengali even though Bengalis are also majority of ethnic groups? The Chakmas are offeneded if the nationality are declared as Bengali but those buddhist dont get offended when Bismiallah was introduced and state religion was made Islam? All you madrasha educated Mullahs have brain in the knees.. Dont you?

For Bengalis its synomys. If somebody ask me what ethnicity I belong to then sure I am a bengali. But official nationality is Bangladeshi. I am proud of both of that. Stop religious nonsense which calls Bangladeshi as Muslim identity and Buddhist Chakma even though they are not muslim are Bangladeshi too...

Ok, but how this two are conflicting each other? Your nationality is Bangladeshi and your ethnicity is Bengali. Or do you change your ethnicity because there are equal no of hindu Bengalis. :s

My personal view is (remember this my own view and will be different from others). I have been to west bengal and found the culture is not the same as in Bangladesh, since 47 we have changed as have people from west bengal so you see cultures and norms are starting to diverge. Its like the UK and USA both speak english but their cultures are different and as time progresses they will diverge even more.

So to end with, I am Bangladeshi, and I speak a languge that is Bengali, and my culture is unique to Bangladesh, which is DIFFERENT from that of west bengal.

I also don't know what nonsense bs you are trying to say me out of context. You said Bangladehi and Bangali have the same meanings by saying that those are synonyms. But I said 'NO'. If Bangladeshi and Bangali words would convey the same meaning then there would be no conflict over this issue. Also then Muslim Bangladeshis would not feel proud to say Bangladeshi instead of Bangali if they had the same meaning. I just said about Muslim Bangladeshis' perception.

Then why you are ranting for secularism everyday?

WHo told you that I'm madrasa stu?

Btw, I saw your level of intelligence too in the PK-BD relationship thread.

:agree::agree: thats what we are saying.

Being Bangladeshi is one thing and being Indian version of Bengali is another.

That make sense to me.. lets put it in peace.

I more or less agree with you. I never been to BD(though want to some day) but it doesn't take an Einstein to assume the culture would be very different because of segregation after partition, atleast online BD forums suggests so. Racially I have no idea if BD people have any different linage than ours. Well if you people are ready to disown the word 'Bengali', I don't think it will be much issue to people from West Bengal, may be we will change our state's name to Bengal. :azn:
