I am well aware of the reality. Let the masses of people develop and come out of poverty and become middle class. It will take some time. Then the cultural differences will materialise if any in the gender equality indices.

Thats why we see a certain tangible overall difference between Indians and Pakistanis in wealthier countries like UK for example...in both the hard statistics and perception.

Also in other studies of gender equality, Pakistan comes out way worse:

Pakistan ranked 134/135 countries and India ranked 105/135 and most Muslim countries including those significantly richer than India on per capita basis are almost all stacked at the bottom.

Again in this one India is increasing its score at a much faster rate than Pakistan if you look at the historic values on page 17.

Ohh come on we all know what kind of treatment rapists receive in terms of sharia,as far as i know the victim has to produce 4 witnesses to support her rape claim otherwise it is she who gets brutally punished!!Sati was never a popular practice in the sub-continent before the advent of the central asian barbarians who were nothing but an uncivilized bunch of animals having no respect for women folk.Hence,to save the Hindu women from the yoke of these barbarians "Sati" was made a widespread custom so that our women didn't suffer all those humiliation after the death of their husbands.So the prevalence of Sati in India is directly related to the advent of the barbarians!!

An islamophobic hindutvadi judge comparing apples and oranges. Sati is a practice of killing someone and this was more or less confined to pagans of the subcontinent. On the other hand polygamy is being practiced by virtually all societies since time immemorial. Allah (swt) has given permission for marrying up to 4 wives as a mercy to mankind , and that's all muslims need to know. This institution of polygamy when properly regulated close many doors of evil in the society such as prostitution, adultery, mistresses etc etc. Islam provides practical solutions to practical problems of the society.

The judge could have compared sati with social practices such prostitution, adultery , alcoholism , dowry on the wife ( a pagan practice) , domestic abuse and suicide, killing people for eating beef , ghar wapsi and other such practices of modern indian society.
