I guess circumvent by marrying 4 sisters
the society will make fun of the man if he is trying to marry another woman
Again a big lol, covering you women in black tent like cloth 24*7*365 seems to be really oppressive and barbaric to me.I would rather choose Sati which could happen only once in your life over this oppressive life anytime, anywhere
Nop, it was a pretty popular practice among you guys:
Has been abolished, but not by choice - you were forced to abolish by a civilized foreign bunch.
It will again improve again but still the very fact that muslim Pakistan had a better ranking than you should be a hard slap on your self perceived superiority and we are not even comparing you to other muslim states with more equality like Egypt,Turkey and Iran hereTable 4: Gender Inequality Index | Human Development Reports
Both at rank 127 now. So Pakistan dropped 4 ranks and Indian gained 5 ranks since your news story.
And I bet that trend will continue.
According to my information, according to the changing rules of Islam it is not really allowed anymore... polygamy that is. It was done to reduce the wives of muslim arab men and now there is no place for it. You have one wife only.Banning multiple wives can only be a good thing for men in general, and Muslim men in particular.
All married men suffer from bouts of homicidal ideation.
Multiply that by 4 and you have some idea of why some Muslim men do what they do.
Multiply the 4 into 4 separate mothers-in-law and you have an exponential potentiation of that explosive (pun unimplied) situation.
I've never really understood the theology behind the promise of 72 virgins, nor the intricacies of the riders involved, but the fact that its virgins and not wives gives me a clue as to the attraction of the promise implied.
On topic, yes, one man, one wife, for all Indians, thank you very much.
Cheers, Doc
Did I read this wrong. But looks like India at 135 and. Pakistan at 146.?Table 4: Gender Inequality Index | Human Development Reports

So Sati where a widow is burned on her husbands funeral pyre is being compared to Islamic Polygamy where a man is burned everyday of his life by his (upto)4 wives and (mother in laws). I don't get it

Your comment was directed at Muslims so i showed you stats of your country to show you the realityWhere have I said that we are superior? Religion/culture has very little to do with Gender equality when education and economics dictate the bad development position of the majority of people.
However when that is sorted out relatively speaking, we see which countries are clearly bad for women by the gender equality rank being much worse than their HDI rank.
KSA for example has HDI rank of 34 compared to gender equality rank of 56.
For Qatar its 31 and 113 respectively.
Jordan its 71 and 101 respectively
Egypt 110 and 130 respectively
Iran 75 and 109 respectively
-----
On the other hand Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Turkey and Malaysia and Indonesia have better or equal Gender equality ranks than their HDI rank.
So Muslim countries seem to have a big variance in trajectory for gender equality as they develop. I wonder which one Pakistan will follow.
Thats HDI rank. Gender equality rank is two columns over.
