"Saudia Arabia says days of unconditional foreign aid are now over"

I cannot speak for everyone but the people I know in the UK have supported brothers, sisters, cousins, neices, nephews - helped build houses, setup businesses, buy farmland.

Almost everyone has a story of being ripped off by the very same relatives.

It's in our blood to bite the hand that feeds you. My family allowed my oldest uncle to manage our property back home for 35 years with complete trust, which cost us a lot. After 35 years, we asked where the money is, which should've totaled out to be $ 700K-$800K (without inflation adjustment) answer was he didn't have it, sub lag gaya. When asked what property he's purchased, etc., he said nothing except his house, which was already there before we allowed him to manage the assets.

He passed away a few months back, I told the family to bury the f*cker, but we will not forgive him.

Nothing to do with blood. This story is as old as humanity.

@hydrabadi_arab

Refusing the KSA request to support them militarily when they were under Houthi attack was a Himalayan blunder on part of Pak.

Hi,

Everybody in the world knows that except for the idiot---.

Probably be a good thing. With 1 person being kicked out, the 10 lazy bums sat around leaching off him in Pakistan would probably have to get a job or starve. When hungry they might finally turn on the state which is opressing them.
Hi,

Most pakistanis are gutless nowadays---. They won't turn on the state---.

The dignity has been beaten out of them.

Well, I have heard of similar cases in India too. Such cases indeed breed dependency and a tendency to rip off people. In general such support should be discouraged, unless there is a genuine emergency (serious illness etc)

lets look at it like this (the reason for low productivity):

in the world, money is thrown at researchers, designers (not talking about fashion or art, but engineers, biologists etc). in Pakistan, it is thrown at BA, Bcom pass clerks aka CSS babus. govt ahs no R&D deptts, the only ministry, under civil control, ministry of science and tech, is the worst off ministry in the entire setup. even in that ministry, the babus get everything: cars, houses, allowances, fancy trips abroad etc. while the technical departments and manpower under it are suffering.

lets now also look at what harm this culture causes:

govt CSS job, that is nothing more than moving files around (bloated, unproductive bureaucracy), has become extremely lucrative. while jobs which require skilled individuals, design engineers, biologists, physicists etc are underfunded, underpaid and no one wants to do them. people here are attracted to power, laziness, showbaazi, so they go for a govt job. even the smart ones. hence the shortfall of skilled manpower in manufacturing or R&D fields.

besides there is another thing in minds of people, fed to them since they were young, by their teachers, mothers and fathers that sarkari naukri is everything. these sort of parents and teachers are to blame for this culture and mindset. sarkari naukri is unproductive, it adds nothing to the economy, but everyone wants a green plate car, power, and showbazi.

while india is busy celebrating indians appointed as CEOs, our universities like NUST are celebrating its graduates, of engineering disciplines, being promoted to bps-20 or passing CSS. shameful situation really, when a university that is focused on, and has made name for itself through S&T, celebrates pen-pushers and lazy asses.

I don't remember Saudi Arabia ever giving us Aid. That was happening back in the 1980s with encouragement from the USA.

What they offer is "soft loan", "oil on deferred payments", "transfer funds in the bank to boost reservers" etc.
That would be "Aid"...

@Clutch mian,

You want to murder innocent Yemeni babies for Dollars.

Absolutely not! Actually with a professional Pak Army led by competent commanders, the Alliance would have finished the war in a jiffy, and spared ordinary Yemenis a lot of hardship.

NO

And then KSA can kick out all the Pakistani labour working there. This will dramatically reduce our remittances, resulting in making our economic crisis even worse.
Probably not, they know well when it comes to hard labour, Pakistani are the go-to person and no one else.

It should be conditional support, meaning you contribute your fair share to society not just eat off foreign handouts

You want to murder innocent Yemeni babies for Dollars... Because that's what the Saudi debacle in Yemen is actually doing.

Exactly... All those in Pakistan leaching off of the few hard working Pakistani overseas need to starve. My 80 year old retired parents send money from here in the West to my 30 something cousins in Pakistan because they just can't make enough in Pakistan.... Why???

Well done Saudis....break the Pakistani begging bowel... Pakistani are all Beggars can't be Choosers losers.
Saudis aren't breaking any bowls only controlling beggars.
