What's new

Saudi cleric’s wife shows face on TV, sparks uproar

Nonsense "article". Millions of women are not wearing a full veil (niqab) already and have been doing that always. It's always been a personal choice and rarely is anyone forced.

Such topics should be discussed among Saudi Arabians or fellow Arabs. Most foreigners have no clue about the ground realities.

It's like if you asked Arabs or Europeans to talk about social customs in Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Zimbabwe or Burma etc.

Anyway Ghamdi is such a joker.:omghaha:
Why man why? Why you not NO the niqab !!!!

Beauty is from within and from your actions.

People who claim to "defend" women when they criticize headscarfs are at the same time unable to accept that many women willingly wear headscarfs. Because they WANT to. That right they must have. Hence it being idiotic to force people to wear headscarfs or to force them NOT to wear it. I don't support any of those two options. Yet those that really should have a say in this debate are Saudi Arabian women. I don't see any here on PDF. But OK, we can all comment.

She is pretty, nodoubt.......those Suadis have ugly wives are whining ....

Nonsense thing to say. Some of the most beautiful women are wearing headscarfs. Married or non-married. Whether in KSA or elsewhere. Respect the choices of individuals and don't become another version of the same bigots that you rightly dislike.

I suggest that the moderators have a open eye on this thread. Such threads are not suited for PDF. A recipe for disaster. We saw it partially already.

Expect KSA, Arabs, Islam, Muslim women etc. to be abused. If that is the goal of such threads then I suggest joining anti-Muslim etc. sites or PressTV. Or better make one big thread on PDF for all those issues. I won't take part. I promise.

Second that, I guess some people need a reason to ridicule KSA for every positive step they take. Have read your post how you calmly tried to explain the changing scenario in the KSA, yet people confront you with that wahabi/salafi jibes. I guess we all have brushed people belonging to certain countries with a broad brush.

...... many women willingly wear headscarfs. Because they WANT to. .

These women are told a lie that Mohammad pbuh and Allah swt want them to wear Hijab

This is no personal choice in reality
but an imposition in the name of Islam.

Please be honest when you comment.

Thank you

I don't think talking about human rights in any way "ridicules" KSA.

They can do that for all I care. They will only expose their idiotic behavior, hatred, ignorance etc. Seen plenty of it. So much that I don't even remember half of it. It's not worth it. Yet sometimes you cannot ignore it. That's my own fault. Criticism is amble in every society, country, people etc. but it should be given in a constructive manner. What are we supposed to discuss here? Has anyone here asked the Saudi Arabian women? Does anyone here, outside of us natives, know any Saudi Arabian women in private? I mean know so well that you have discussed such issues with her? I very much doubt so.

We don't need to do any explaining anyway but when I do I do it to educate others or because people ask about my opinions. I gladly give them. I am very often critical myself of KSA, Arabs, Muslims etc. So that's not the point.

See here for instance:

Saudi Arabia still offers lot of opportunities for Indians

I don't think talking about human rights in any way "ridicules" KSA.
But this dude supports and encourage the changes. I was talking about how hez been confronted in other threads. Instead of blaming him understand what he stands for.

This is not a religious forum bro. Most Islamic scholars agree that a headscarf is recommend. My or your opinion might be different. That's not the point here.

You totally omit that many if not most Saudi Arabian women are not only religious but are also wearing headscarfs out of their free will. Only in public anyway.

Of course there is a personal choice. My female relatives are wearing headscarfs that expose their hair in the open. Nobody has any problem with that. Please don't be silly and quit the stereotyping.

I don't think that this news has anything to do with human rights. In the case of KSA and most Muslim and non-Western countries (btw) there are serious concerns on this front but to use this issue as one of them is silly.

Welcome to the 21st century Saudi Arabians!

Welcome ignorant.

Hijab is the tip of fundamentalists' iceberg.

If you don't see it then you are not alone.

It happens as such with tips that happened to be attached on top of icebergs.

p.s. I have traveled to different Saudi regions than even some SAudis.

Let's not make it personal

Nobody in KSA makes a fuss about headscarfs nor is anybody killing each other for it. I am frankly getting tired of nonsense discussions such as those when there are 1000's of more important matters. Just in KSA alone let alone the entire world.

Pakistan was just hit by one of many cowardly terrorist attacks, 3-4 Arab countries are on fire, people are still dying because of lack of nutrition in South Asia and Africa etc. etc. and here we have such discussions.

There are certain Islamic principals that the majority of Muslims agrees with and if you follow them it has nothing to do with fundamentalism. Now you are becoming fundamental yourself. If people have a problem with Islam they can leave it for all I care. That's their choice.

If you are in doubt about your faith it might be because you have not studied it thoroughly enough. This is a common problem among many modern Muslims and why you have converts who converted 1 week ago joining ISIS without doing any proper research beforehand outside of watching some Youtube clips.

Have a nice day. Got to go for the time being.:coffee:

Good looking!!

I don't think that's her in the picture....that's just random picture.

Women in Saudia don't all dress up like ninja fighters the way the western media portrays...Many don't keep a veil on and many are without the rest of the "ninja dress".
