We discussed their (Iranian Mullah's) suicide mission many times but they seem to be highly deluded thinking that they will ever gain a foothold in Syria again through a direct puppet. The things I see on Syrian forums are a testimony of that alone. Not even thinking about all the destruction.

Russia, if they had a more senseless foreign policy, could quickly have found another Tartus naval base somewhere else in the Arab world, after all there are 23 Arab states or a similar arrangement. Instead they have chosen a line where 95% of all Arab countries see them not as a beneficial partner but as a unfriendly nation. Totally unnecessary and irresponsible.

What goes through their heads I will never understand because there is no doubt that the war is lost for them. Unless they are putting all their strength to create a Alawi state around Latakia. But will the Syrians allow their country to be partitioned? Don't think so. Would it be in the interest of the West? Might be. We will not know for now.

Tartus navel base forms a strategic location for the Russians against the US missile shield deployed in Europe, the Middle East and S Asia. The Tartus base is overestimated when it comes to importance.

The Russians could easily make a similar base in Northern Cyprus (Greek part) which is not a NATO state. Similar they could and have similar based in Belarus next to the EU border. In case of a WW3. Let alone all the Christian Orthodox countries such as Serbia who have a long prospect of entering EU.

So this is why all this makes no sense - the Russian part. I listened to a senior Russian analyst and former Russian officer who told that Putin is supposedly a man of words and that the Al-Asad family are long-time allies of Russia.

I don't think that Syria is CRUCIAL for Russia. It is much more important for us natives to which side it falls (GCC and Arab world or Iran).

That is my analysis for now at least. Might be wrong.

I agree, it's been a puzzle for me since the early days of the rebellion, I never expected Russia to side against Assad but neither did I expect such support. Perhaps they are estimating that the Allawits will hold a strip near the shore at the worst outcome and playing a game of showing their power to the West? And counting on the Sunni world to forget about it/ignore it in future relations?

however Sunni dominated countries should not use militants as a response.

militants are used by lesser powers who cannot face their adversary with regular force.

Sunni dominated countries have enough troops and weapons to raise a peacekeeping force for Syria.

I can see 150,000 troops coming from Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, and Bangla Desh.


These troops are enough to quickly strop Assad the butcher and bring peace to all Syrians including Sunnis, Shias, and non-Muslims.


These peacekeeping force can then hold elections, hand over the power to the elected leadership and slowly withdraw.

Hur does 'not' refer to 'any particular' gender. Its one of a kind word like the word 'Allah' which doesn't depict any particular gender or else.

The very notion of '72 virgins' is a false fabrication as both of those words don't come together in any particular verse,in the context of heaven, nor does the word 'Huris' comes in with the above in any particular verse and in any context.

Stop following in Mullahs footsteps rather than using the book as an open source.
