Sad times as NA passes resolution to rename QAU's Abdus Salam Centre

Sir I hope u are an educated person but sad to see your third grade comments. Hope u should analyse what u have done.

Still Ahmedis are in much better position in Pakistan despite having opposite beliefs from Muslims, if few Ahmedis have died in Pakistan so are thousands of Muslims and Christians. The Ahmedis can use any sort of language in Pakistan meanwhile Muslims in India even not allowed to live their ordinary life. Ahmedis are serving in SBP, PA and other key institutions.

DrAbduSalam was a great Physicist and respectful for his knowledge but on other side he was a Non Muslim. He opposed Pak nuclear program.

Ummmm no. Ahmedis are not allowed to serve in Pak army. And while they do work in govt institutions according to the demands of Khadim Wheelchair their identities might be exposed and their lives might be in danger. Muslims in India have it bad, but atleast they have freedom of identity. I don't think any ahmedi would have the guts to come out in public and admit to his faith.

bohat sharam ke baat hai afsos k Pakistanio ko barabar k haqoq nahe mil rahay ..or ik aisa Pakistani jis par fakhar hona chiye humain usay mazhubi nafrat ka neshana banaya ja raha hai

The resolution was tabled by PML-N lawmaker Captain Muhammad Safdar, who is former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law and aspiring PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz's husband.
Weird. Wikipedia says it was N.S. himself who renamed the department after A.S.

Have no issue if places etc are named after Abu al-Fath Abd al-Rahman Mansur al-Khazini. However, this change seems more due to the fact that Dr Abdus Salam happens to be an Ahmadi. Especially since doing the change is one name daftari "Captain" Safdar Awan.

What Safdar khajur wala and the ilk who support this decision don't understand is that, by adding Dr Abdus Salam's name to a place etc gives it eminence, not the other way round.

Ahmedis are not allowed to serve in Pak army.

Slight correction, Ahmadis can and do serve in the armed forces in large numbers. I have very close family members who have served in active zones and given their lives for Pakistan while this "Captain" was serving as a glorified PA.

An explicitly incorrect statement! Ahmedi's serve in Pakistan military and have been doing so throughout it's history, rather, their religion is never considered beyond the clause that they identify themselves as Ahmedi on joining, other than that they are treated just as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and get equal opportunities to advance their military carriers.

Weird. Wikipedia says it was N.S. himself who renamed the department after A.S.
YES! Have no doubts, the mighty wikipedia says all and speaks nothing but the truth. :disagree:

Surely you know how the legislation works and obviously being from the Trumpland you also know how the politicians put up facades to make fool out of voters. The resolution in question was moved by the PMLN and has been approved unanimously by the National assembly, where PMLN still holds majority. Should we believe his artifice, supported by the link you provided or should we focus on facts. I can't share links so be a sport and go through the OP and related info.

Sharif’s son-in-law Captain Safdar spews anti-Ahmedi hatred in the House

Third stage:
The National Assembly (NA) on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution to rename the Physics department of Islamabad’s Quaid-i-Azam University in a bid to drop the name of Pakistani physicist Dr Abdus Salam.
The resolution presented by MNA Captain (r) Safdar reads,Today, this Parliament has signed a resolution to highlight that the Physics department of Quaid-i-Azam University should be named after the famous scientist Abu al Fatah Abdul Rehman Al-Khazini who was the biggest name for Muslims in Physics”.

Oh but...... Didn't Wikipedia reference by a politically paid promotion, potrayed NAWAZ SHAREEF as Ahmedi's Messiah. :sarcastic:

NA resolution passed to rename QAU physics department, not centre for physics

Due to an editorial mistake, this story initially stated that the Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics at the Quaid-i-Azam University had been renamed as the Abu al-Fath Abd-al Rahman Mansur al-Khazini Department for Physics. A university representative has explained that the center for physics and the department of physics are, technically speaking, two separate entities. Though Capt Safdar has repeatedly demanded that the centre for physics be renamed, the resolution tabled yesterday concerned the physics department. The error is regretted.

The National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution to name the department of physics at the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) as the al-Khazini Department, after Byzantine-origin astronomer Abu al-Fath Abd al-Rahman Mansur al-Khazini.

The resolution was tabled by PML-N lawmaker Captain Muhammad Safdar, who is former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law and aspiring PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz's husband.

The resolution was signed by representatives of all major parties.

The resolution stated that the physics department should be named after Al-Khazini to recognise his contribution to physics, “So that the everyone may know that this person was the pioneer in the world of science. While following the footsteps of his teacher Al-Biruni, he made remarkable achievements in the field of physics.”

Despite earlier reports to the contrary, the resolution did not, in fact, name QAU's Centre for Physics.

“Technically speaking, the centre for physics and the department of physics are two separate entities. The centre is an autonomous body affiliated with QAU, while the department of physics is part of QAU,” senior university dean Dr Wiqar Ali Shah had later explained to Dawn.

The centre, which is named after Professor Abdus Salam, has been the target of a sustained campaign by Capt Safdar.

Last year, during an anti-Ahmadi tirade on the floor of the National Assembly, Safdar had criticised the renaming of the QAU physics centre after Professor Dr Abdus Salam — the country's first Nobel laureate — on the grounds that the scientist followed the Ahmadi faith.

The physics centre had been named after Abdus Salam in December 2016 following the approval of then prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who had also approved a grant for five annual fellowships for Pakistani PhD students.

Due to an editorial mistake, this story initially stated that the Professor Abdus Salam Centre for Physics at the Quaid-i-Azam University had been renamed as the Abu al-Fath Abd-al Rahman Mansur al-Khazini Department for Physics. We apologise to our readers for the error.
