Russian Air Force to receive first Su-35 by year end

The Russian Defense Ministry will receive its first Su-35 fighter plane by the end of the year, Russia's Sukhoi Aircraft Design Bureau said on Monday.

The first modernized Su-35 was presented at the 2007 MAKS air show outside Moscow. The Russian Defense Ministry signed a deal with Sukhoi on the purchase of 48 modernized Su-35 jets in 2009.
Sukhoi is also holding talks with customers in South-East Asia, the Middle East and South America on Su-35 sales.

The Su-35 Flanker-E, a modification of the Su-27, is a heavy class, long-range, multi-role fighter, whose technical characteristics can be compared with those of fifth-generation jets.

. . .
A NICE AIRCRAFT INDEED. HOW MANY OF THESE RUSSIA IS GOING TO INDUCT?

Russian air force at this point ordered 48 Aircrafts each plane costs about 45-65 million a piece. Venezuela is the other country who's purchasing the about 24 Su-35S the export version by the end of 2010. I really don't know how many Aircrafts they can purchase into their inventory, but 4th generation fighter jets will be obsolete in 5-10 years. So they should try to invest as much as possible to procure as many PAK-FA jets they can..

this is something that makes me nervous, if PAK-FA has a good prospect and its tag is somewhere in 80 Million (As per Putin and Sukhoi) then why not to go for that Platform. I mean Russian AF going for SU-30M2 and SU-35 instead of having a uniform fleet of PAK-FA fighter?.....ptdm can you help me with this confusion

US has ordered F-18s inspite of raptors and F-35s .. so different fighters different roles , probably.

Russia cannot compete with the usa in money america is much richer than russia. they cant order many t-50 so they rathe otherr other fighter like su-35 which are cheaper.

Well Russians have a fleet of 200 + Su 25 which like the mig 27 of India are in dire need of replacement , While Pakfa will enter Russian Service in 2016 with the RuAF
Russians have committed to Purchase 430 Pakfa Between 2016-30, now these guys want to mentain a fleet of 1100 Fighter/bomber Aircrafts so all of them cannot be PAKFA Which will cost 100 Million USD each if u include the development cost

By the way russians are also buying 48 Su34 Ground attack aircraft and 25 Mig35 mrca

.
gotta love russian weaponry it will be good when russia becomes a richer country again.it will benefit human kind.

Still mad over the S-300 deal, don't answer I have read enough of your post to know the answer.

The clarify things, we can order many T-50's, approximately 250 of them which is 'many'. Moreover, the SU-35 is not cheap and it meant to be an upgrade/replacement until the pak-fa is introduced, and even when the pak-fa comes into service the SU-35 as well as other legacy fighters will still make up a large bulk of the air force, similar with how US legacy fighters will make up a large portion of the US air force.

Please continue with your Russia sucks mentality, it's quite amuzing

But F-35 will not delay untill 2017, I suspect we will start witnessing induction around Q4 2012 or Q12013 onwards.and by time 2017 and 2020 most of the early 4th gen models would have been replaced by F-35s so legacy 4th gen fighters will be being retired with every passing month.

I think it will be 7-8 years from now before PAK FA is being finished for the Russian Airforce. Meanwhile, everyone else will wait for the PAK FA and not going to order anymore SU-30. I think in that time gap of around 15 years before PAK FA is in any non-Russian airforce, SU-35BM will be offered but Russia can't convince people that SU-35BM is really that much better than Su-30 unless its Russian Airforce has to fly this bird. I think it's very hard to convince people that Mig35 and SU-35BM are great aircraft but your own airforce don't even use them; hence I see the reason why the need for Russian airforce to buy SU-35BM

Most early fourth generation aircraft would be retiring, but derivatives of fourth generation aircraft will, in fact, also be entering service around the time theF-35 is fully operational.

Here is what Boeing has to say:

http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/military/fa18ef/docs/EF_overview.pdf

On Sept. 28, 2010, the U.S. Navy awarded Boeing a new F/A-18E/F and EA-18G multiyear
contract for 124 aircraft that will be delivered from 2012-2015. The contract
includes 66 Super Hornets and 58 Growlers.

I disagree, there has been very recent contracts and deliveries of the SU-30 and many countries are showing interests in more. And there was news that Venezuela ordered SU-35's. The Sukhoi series is no different to the Typhoon, F-16, or Grippen in terms of orders, by that I mean countries continue to place orders. Also just like I pointed out above even if 'stealth' aircraft are available countries will continue to order upgraded versions of '4th generation' aircraft, by this I’m talking about the US and the F-18 Super hornet.

Looking at the avionics, performance, RCS reduction, reliability, and service life it's clear that the SU-35 is superior to the SU-30, and the reason why the Russian airforce does not operate either aircraft is because both aircraft are under development, of course the RAF is receiving the first SU-35 this year.
