“It’s not about a lack of political will, Pie argued, but rather a consequence of bureaucratic hurdles and slowness. “We are in a peacetime mood with all these processes,” he said.
Except Europeans are expected to foot the bill of rebuilding Ukraine, is that unnecessary cost going to take a decade to see fruition. No, Europe is expected to pay, pay big and pay fast. Europe needs to rather invest in a full rearmament, not waste a trillion euros on rebuilding something the EU never broke. Let UK, France, China, Russia and US foot the bill for this war. They are the self appointed rulers of the globe in the post-WWII era, the permanent members of the security council. Either disband the permanent members of the security council or pay for this war under their watch. A US only no fly zone would have ended the conflict in days. Putin is not stupid, Russia would not nuke the USA. US could mop up Russian forces in Ukraine within months, if not weeks.
Russia starts a war with Ukraine to get at Europe, to collapse the EU and NATO Europe, and the EU is expected to pay the trillion to rebuild which would nearly bankrupt Europe. Have China and Russia pay, along with USA. China has loads of money, supported Russia, have China rebuild at low costs, they build cities in China with high speed rail and modern living fast and on the cheap. If France and UK want to stay at the UN security council, have both pay. How about this, Europe pays the full cost of rebuilding if the permanent members of the UN Security Council to prevent wars are instead: Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Poland as the rulers of the globe in the UN security council as the only permanent members. Ukraine was shafted with lies twice in agreements the US/Russia signed off on, this war happened under China, Russia, France, UK and US watch, let them pay, or be replaced.
Europe Expects to Pay Bulk of Ukraine’s Reconstruction Costs
True cost could be over 1 trillion euros.
A trillion-dollar opportunity? Rebuilding Ukraine will mean giant investments and potential big payoffs, say economists adding up the costs
Companies and governments are apparently already eyeing the potential for major deals to rebuild Ukraine in the aftermath of Russia’s war.

This is what 1 trillion in weapons would get Europe with economies of scale and low margins for corporations:
Would you rather have Europe safe for the next 100 years with weapons to defend Europe or pay for rebuilding something that you did not break.
Cost of a huge European Grand Rearmament.
Some of these companies are no longer in business, so production would shift to ones that are. Older weapons would be modernized and produced.
These prices are based on economies of scale. Highly mass produced in large quantities to get the lowest prices. Leopard 2 Tanks cost over 15 million each, these are priced at 10 million each. If the European arms industry throws a hissy fit over unfeasible at these low prices, you divide by 2. According to Indian sources, K9 Thunders cost half of the PzH 2000. Germany has to keep the same quality as the K9 thunder, and getting below that price range too with sheer number of orders. You have to make these as you do consumer products, high quality, yet relatively inexpensive and quickly made.
Towed artillery should not cost more than 1 million eueos each when you are making thousands of them in huge factories for quickest production at lowest cost. Tanks and IFV, should not cost more than 5-10 million euros for the expensive tanks. The more inflation occurs, the higher the prices, so start making them now during low economic global growth, saves you hundreds of billions later.
None of this arms industry price gouging during a rearmament:
Assad's review team found the government will pay TransDigm $119 million for parts that should cost $28 million.
A bipartisan group of U.S. senators is asking the Department of Defense to launch an investigation into longstanding price gouging by defense contractors.

If tanks are going to cost 20 million euros each, instead of under 10 million euros, then skip that defense contractor and go with more anti-tank weapons, artillery and ammo.

813 billion for rearmament of the EU, spent over 10 years.
Plus an additional 200 billion on nukes and ICBM production for European militaries
Total of 101-102 billion spent on average each year from 2024-2033, with more spending up front in factory expansions and orders.
Additional 20 billion per year earmarked for purchasing ammo.
Paid in part by a 3% EU VAT over 10 years. Leased weapons to EU nations based on proximity to Russia and population/military to support it.
When you leave the EU, you forfeit the army equipment to the EU, except nukes. Weapons cannot be sold or donated to non-EU member states.
Field a European Grand Army of 2.5 million+ soldiers, my estimates is an army of 4 million fighting soldiers+ with the equipment. 4000+ battalions. hundreds of thousands of mortars in reserve. Many hundreds of thousands of soldiers in support with supply and logistics. A trillion euros can buy the weapons for a 5 million man combined armed forces of Europe. This would prevent a war with Russia, especially the ICBM part.
Nations recommended to set up own reserve system to train on equipment.
Did some adding without a calculator, so could be off a bit:
425.75K mortars
13K tanks
27.5K IFV
~54.5K howitzers
10K rocket artillery
5.5K air defense systems (every battalion has a Gepard and more in reserve, only brought to the front after Russian use of drones, missiles against the unit)
30K APC
and nuclear ICBMs for 1 trillion dollars total. The same cost that "experts" say the price of rebuilding Ukraine is. With Europe paying for it. Would rather have Europe rearm.
Air/Navy Power and cruise missiles are funded at national level defense spending. EU members are advised to purchase Norwegian anti-drone and ADS systems.
Europe must be ready.
