This bandera guy spent time in a German concentration camp. From what I figure he was a ukranian nationalist. Good for him. After what his people went through. they needed someone like him.
For WW2 standards, he doesnt seem that bad at all. Unless you've killed over 1 million people in WW2, you dont even make the leaderboard sadly.
I have no love for cossacks. But Ukraine needs strong nationalism to survive this crap it's going through. So their nationalism needs to be encouraged and used to regain their country.

You are completely misinformed about Bandera and UPA. Bandera was not murdering Germans but was an actual ally of Nazi Germans. He was committing genocide on the Polish population in what was Eastern Poland (Today Ukraine) AS WELL as anti-Nazi Ukrainians.
The brutality of which was greater than the Nazi German and USSR crimes on Poland and Polish people if we are to believe numerous Polish survivors of all 3.

Bandera is mostly worshipped in Western Ukraine and Central Ukraine. The hotspots of Ukrainian nationalism. The pro-Russian (historically, at least since 1991) Novorossiya (Southern and Eastern Ukraine) considered/consider him as a traitor.
I think that there is nothing worse in the world than an expanding USA. Russia is already the by far largest country in the world, they don't need any more land, they just want their traditional sphere to be respected. They don't want to have hostile and rapidly anti-Russia US satellite states such as Ukraine as neighbors.
Read up on how the US has acted/is acting in their neighborhood (Cuba, Nicaragua, Grenada, Venezuela etc.) and the Monroe doctrine.
I don't blame Ukrainians, I would prefer an alliance with the West/US over Russia too (at least from an economically viewpoint which is what is the priority for most people), as they can offer far more, but what I don't understand are the blatant double standards, hypocrisy etc.
Anyway as I wrote many times in this thread, the best thing for Ukraine and Europe would be for Ukraine to act as a buffer state between West and East (as it traditionally was it was the borderland of Poland and Russia - hence the name Ukraine which means borderland if I recall) and to enjoy stable and cordial relations with both the West and Russia and get benefits from both. Yanukovich was trying to do that (albeit it was difficult) before the Euromaidan.
That and West falling catastrophically post-1991 in regards to integrating and welcoming Russia into the European family once again.
Now they have instead pushed current day regime in Russia towards China. Not smart.
