Good enough for upgradedStill, I must say it has no match with F16 BLK 52, which has greater technology, combat range, radar range, greater avionics etc

pls clarify which avionics u are talking about??
Yes in terms of range mig-29 is pretty bad
Mig-29k has quite good range 2100 km,increased to 3000 km with 3 drop tanks. Also it can do buddy budy refuelling from other mig-29ks .This range is more than sufficient fr indian CBG which are expected to operate near home waters not in distant oceans.
But my point is why didn't we spend a little more to get atleast a better IRST......this one has a 20 km range??wtf!!!
Even radar is just so so but in that department we had no choice as phazotron has no other radar except zhuk-ae which is in testing right now
Radar detection range is 150 km and tracking range 120 km for medium sized fighters[j-15 is large size] .Thats very good for a naval fighter.
What ur forgetting is that compared to j-15/su-33 mig-29k has much lower RCS.
As far as IRST is concerned ur attaching too much importance to it,IRST is primarily for use against low observable fighters where radar is less effective. In conventional fighters mostly useful in dogfight thus range. Its not much use to put in costly high quality IRST on this plane as it won't face 5th gen fighters.
pak fa on the other hand is meant to combat 5th gen threats and will have excellent long range IRST,so will su-35 which is transitional design.A testbed for pak fa.
the claim is 120 km against 5m2 target.............read the pamphlet i provided in previous page.
Its toe in toe with apg-68 of paf,,,maybe marginally better.
Good irst can also detect missiles and serve as a maw too,,,,no??
other than that u are right
Ur talking tracking range, not detection range.
Go to the official bharatakshak page on mig-29k .Apparently detection range is 150 and tracking range 120 km.Still disputed as diff sources give diff values.
Anyway its RCS is still much smaller than its rivals especially with more composites and RAM coatings.
Also ur forgetting it has ELTA israeli jammer pod which electronically superior to anything our immediate rivals can field.
For MAW it has seperate system.
regarding the jammers in detail pls go here..............i have posted pictures and details

Yes except its EW suite it has both internal ukrainian jammer and israeli external jammer pod.Pretty comprehensive.
Yes israeli jammer is also there.........what about indigenous tarang rwr??i think its horseshit.....but i could be wrong
