MOSCOW, (BM) – Russian-made Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile-cannon systems [ZRPKs], which are used in Libya, are useless against Turkish operational-tactical multi-purpose unmanned aerial systems Bayraktar TB2, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing the Russian Zvezda newspaper.

In May, BulgarianMilitary.com called the successful Bayraktar TB2 attack on Carapace “real genocide.”

The weekly writes that the modification of this ZRPK and its export version used by the Armed forces of Russia are different. In particular, the second is equipped only with an optical control system, while the first has a three-coordinate target detection station with a semi-active phased array antenna and a dual-band centimeter-millimeter radar tracking system for targets and missiles.

“Infrared channels in various ranges are used to track targets and missiles. Radar and optoelectronic devices make up a single system and can operate in different wavelengths,” the newspaper writes, recognizing that Russian-made air defense missile systems “are only poorly adapted to combat targets such as Turkish Bayraktar TV2”

The weekly notes that the Turkish drone strikes with precision weapons from four or more kilometers and is able to barrage for a long time at high altitude, which “significantly complicates its detection by the optical-electronic station ZRPK.”

According to the publication, the Pantsir-S1 operators in Libya do not have access to highly mobile radar stations that could carry out external target designation for air defense missile systems.

What this episode shows is that Russia sells "monkey versions" of its platforms to clients and reserves the full capbility for itself. This would be as brazen as refusing radars to be added to Pantsir to subtle changes like reducing the PK ratio of the missiles, or the anti-jamming countermeasures of the missiles radars.. etc...

I wonder how much the monkey factor multiplier has been applied to the S400's sold to India ....

This seems to be a wide spread issue, design flaw of Panstir, monkey model or not.

Turkey also destroyed Russian Pantsirs in Libya being operated by Wagner. Russia's great weakness has always been software and electronics. Their defence equipment are destined to be humiliated when used against countries with EW capabilities and integrated warfare capabilities.

So why are the Russians pulling their Panstirs for immediate upgrades?

The upgrade is just a play in order to save face and being able to continue the sales of this useless system.

The Russians are decades behind in software and EW. No upgrade to the system will save it from Turkish drones.

Turkish UAVs cannt do that which was demonstrated in Libya. All Pantsirs there were destroyed in hangars, loaded on trailer or while just moving to position.

So what we lost all of our UAV fleet in Libya? You donkeys were the ones who claimed that we lost more than 60 UAVs in Libya. GNA only lost 13-14 TB2s and some of them were due to maintanence problems. We destroyed almost 21-22 Pantsirs at total which is as much as your nonsense claims. You think your so smart that we'd not notice that LNA transported shot down UAVs from one place to another and claim multiple fake kills. Back in March you were so butthurt that you couldn't accept the fact that we destroyed 8 Pantsirs in Idlib even tho it was accepted by your own MFA

Theres is only one episode claimed to be from Libya shows one Pantsir being destroyed one second after it activates its radar.
