The research and development establishment of India has developed the "RUDRA", a new gun mounted remotely operated vehicle. The RUDRA is especially designed for Army and Paramilitary forces to provide an autonomous vehicle to perform counter insurgency operations, hostage situations and hold-ups within buildings reducing risk for the soldiers.

The RUDRA is a remotely operated vehicle designed for offensive operations mainly in urban areas for hostage situations and counter insurgency missions. It is equipped with a 7.62mm caliber Light Machine Gun and a AGS-30 Grenade Launcher with belt feed ammunition. The RUDRA has adequate vision capability to operate both in the day and night conditions. It is controlled through a remote Master Control Station allowing the operator easy use and deploy ability. It is also equipped with an indigenous Pan-o-Vision camera which enables 180 degree view to the operator on real time. This feature allows an all-round view during a critical mission.

The RUDRA can be used with its LOS (Line Of Sight) to a maximum range of 500 m and 200 m in urban area with a maximum endurance of 3 hours. The RUDRA uses a 6x6 wheeled platform which able the vehicle to be used in all-terrain as well as suitable for urban environment. The bottom line is RUDRA can kill and save lives of our men.

RUDRA Should be given to army to test it in real life terrorist encounter in j&k.

The terrain in Kashmir is not really fit for this, I highly doubt the army would be interested in using them in such a mountainous place. With that being said, this is a great for situation like what happened during 26/11 where terrorists were holed up in a large building. Now the problem with this being used in areas in J&K when terrorists hole up in a small house is that most of the time the army just shoots a Karl Gustav shot in the house and takes care of the situation and the building s are usually mud building so the damage is minimum, rather than sending a thousands of dollar worth of robot to take care of few holed up terrorists.

Looks like it needs more development in armor, finishing (r/t manufacturing), etc. I thought tracked vehicles were more versatile than wheels.? I guess it depends where its being used

The tracked vehicles are more versatile and provide superior agility in rough terrains. But wheels are good when the operational theatre has less obstacles.

I wonder if it can move its gun up and down? it looks like the gun can only move sideways but not vertically.

No, the gun can move vertically also at an angle of 40 degrees.

Wow, it looks like a horrible prototype. The body casing looks to be done in blacksmith's shop with stones and hammers and painted in a barn.

Are we running out of names..? LCH is also named RUDRA..

Not clear how efficient this system really is. Probably they plan to develop a new version for Mountainous terrain.
