US secretary of state Antony Blinken on Thursday said they are working to increase resettlement of Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh in a bid to rebuild their lives in the United States.

He came up with this disclosure in a press release titled ‘Marking Five Years Since the Genocide in Burma’.

“As an essential component of an international, comprehensive humanitarian response, we are working to significantly increase resettlement of Rohingya refugees from the region, including from Bangladesh, so that they can rebuild their lives in the United States,” reads the release.

Blinken said the United States stands in solidarity with the government of Bangladesh and other Rohingya-hosting governments in the region.

“We have provided more than $1.7 billion to assist those affected by the crisis in Burma, Bangladesh, and elsewhere in the region, remaining the leading single donor of life-saving humanitarian assistance to those whose lives have been upended by the violence in Rakhine State,” claimed the US secretary of state.

Blinken said they will continue to support Rohingya and the people of Burma in their pursuit of freedom and inclusive democracy by advancing justice and accountability, increasing economic and diplomatic pressure, and safeguarding the human rights and human dignity of all individuals in Burma.

And some Bangladeshis will also now claim to be Rohingya.
Most are Bangladeshi origin people settled in Myanmar. So, they are not different from Bangladeshi. They will just blend in.

I doubt they are going to take all 700,000+ of these folks.
They may take a few hundreds to a thousand.
India has close to 40,000 Rohinyas. 20K are registered with UNHCR as refugees. I wonder who's refugees will they select from?

Here is from the horse's mouth,

Blinken did say USA will resettle some in the USA, which our newspaper failed to mention !

This means there is money to be made by local officials !

This is the US absorbing future talent and growth. While I hate US policies, and I look after my own interests first, as a US citizen I love the way we think. Sadly, our own Islamic nations are useless and failed to develop talent by absorbing outsiders properly and giving them rights.

Down the road these people and their descendants would be so loyal to the US they’ll take part in a conflict to rip Myanmar as new one.

Who told you this small secret that Rohingya are from Bangladesh? If so, why should they live in the slums in Cox’s Bazar instead of living in their ancestral homes surrounded by their loving relatives?

Write something plausible and not something your idle brain cooked to suit your ego.

You failed to read ' settled in Myanmar '. Actually I don't know much about them. I am going by what Myanmar version of who they are and what their agenda is. Whatever it is, I believe they should be repatriated and be given dignity, food and shelter. BD is bearing the most refugees of all nations. I appreciate all countries who are taken them in on humanitarian basis.

They are not ethnic BAMARS.

Rohingyas are as Burmese as white Europeans are Americans.

But the land the Rohingyas settled in aren’t Burmese land either.

Burmese not wanting the Rohingyas is fine. But then they cannot have Rohingya land in Burma either.

Jews are doing the same to the Palestinians.

Jews want Palestinian land but not the Palestinians.

Jews set the precedent for the Burmese.
