Rio 2016 - Team USA news and medal count

. . . .
You see that interference by the Brazilian girl on Felix in the 4x100 relay? US should win the protest.

Yeah, the Brazilian Girl basically elbowed Felix on the change over.....Felix look pissed. They should won the protest as there are interference.

Problem is, I don't think Brazil qualified and they already have 8 teams, they cannot just bump one team off because brazil interfere with the US Team, either IAAF will let it go or they will have to rematch that qualifier, and, sad to say, there are a good chance the IAAF will simply let it go....

They should make the US team run again alone. Then best 8 times qualify.

Well, it does not work that way, and the commentator here in Australia also raise a good point that is the US team have been disqualified for dropping their baton, so that would have to be appeal too, and they had already DSQ the brazil team as well, so unless there are way IAAF reinstate the US runner from a DSQ, nothing can be done.

I don't know man, it's a close call

What did the US commentator said?

Because here in Aus, they look at it like this.

Unless the US team can demonstrate that interference caused them to drop the baton, their DSQ time will stand and nothing can be done, the US Team have already appeal that the Brazilian Team ran an interference, but is it hard enough to have the US team drop the baton. That is where the story goes.

The baton was dropped in the exchange after the interference. In that case, the drop should be irrelevant. Can you imagine the controversy if a runner in the 100m final interfered with Bolt causing him to lose gold? Make them run again, and the best 8 times qualify. Of course, it wouldn't surprise me if the IAAF declines the protest.

NBC just announced that the US has won the protest and will rerun tonight to qualify for the finals.
