Returning Abhinandan: To Do, or Not to Do?

maybe a bit too early as the Indians show no sign of moving towards peace.
but if its a good will gesture then it doesnt matter because its without conditions

its another matter that once he is in Indian territory Indians might launch a massive airstrike to wipe some embarrassment off themselves.

they have already planned to do so and not hiding their intent.
we are making these peace overtunes for the sake of international community but it will mean nothing
Sir next few days the Indians will desperately try to get one if our boys , then make us beg to get him back and that will be enough for modi to win elections

.
Historical experience is not so good either. We did the same with Nachiketa. Treated him well. Handed him over peacefully. But nothing changed on the other side.

.
It's stupid to do so without concessions.
Background discussion and mediations and grantees by uncle sam

India asked uncle sam for permission for non lethal strike uncle sam said go ahead..what surprised them was Pakistan response and than downing india planes

So uncle sam said we will clean up your mess

Everyday isn't sunday and that was old pakistan.

This guy is going to go back & within 2 years time there will be a film about him & shooting down our jet, being captured, tortured by a bearded Mullahs (replacing the angry mob), handed over to PA, who will give him an empty cup to act as if there is tea in it, & on a gunpoint tell him to speak while he will courageously resist them.

IK has taken a political gamble with this. Short term it has paid off, remains to be seen what happens next.

What political gamble would that be Sir? Under Geneva convention we are obliged to return pow and expect the same from our enemies. Yes we could have delayed the release but the impact would not be the same. Right now we are the victors and the world is made to see that we want peace.
A release at later stage would merely be seen as a formality.
India built a narrative and a perception and we void it with a single move. Imran is a genious! :pakistan:

Any further misadventure will result in escalation to full-scale war. They know this. They are looking for face-saving. They are trying FAKE NEWS but social media keeps busting their @$$.

Were the indians the agressor at that time as today? Were our "leaders"like the one we have today? Is the situation same today ?

It is only Abhinandan going back not every one let him go back.

Wrong decision

Indian media would claim that it is abhinandan who shot down Pakistani f16 and then he would be made the new bhagwan with more war mongering by bharatis

While Pakistan would look idiot and loser despite having upper hand in reality.

In military term, Pakistan lost the advantage when you agree to release the pilot the next day!!...In a war, people hardly remember about the good things that are done by leaders rather what mistakes are done by them..
It is like in prior to Kargil, Vajpayee was an odd man our in BJP who really want to have a normal relation with Pakistan...The result was Kargil episode...Now, people remember Kargil for Musharaf and his attempt to outsmart India...Not the otherwar around wher Vajpayee and Nawaj Sarif initiated any peace move...

So in a nutshell, BJP and Modi are prepared to take it to next stage even if there is a war...Because, they have different thought process than other parties...Again, i may like it or not, even if the pilot is in jail or come back, the objective of BJP's India to keep on attacking Pakistan will continue till armed militancy in Kashmir is not over..

IK did the right thing - it was a higher ground he chose. That is what i call a clean bowled...

I agree...Imran Khan is smart person as he was in cricketing days...I am sure, many from your army may not have agreed to this idea to release in next day!!...

IMHO sending the captured pilot back is a great play. From a military perspective, PAF has brilliantly shown their combat capability and scored up hand in the engagement (to put it mildly). PAF is clearly on a victorious position. Now sending the pilot back under the watch of world will also put Pakistan onto the moral high ground that can enjoy not only in the negotiation but also enhance the image of Pakistan as a responsible power over long term. It will put India into a awake position that it has to end the hostility.

It just shows that Pakistan has the intention and capability to do so. It is a show of strength, confidence and statesmanship.

The worst case scenario is that this good gesture doesn’t produce the desired outcome, then so be it. It goes back to the victorious position that PAF is holding at the moment.
