I understand what you mean, MJ. It's not the time to preach family planning.
But neither it's the time to talk politics or play the blame game, now is it?
The bitter reality is that no one cares about the people who lost their lives in the incident. The Greek coastguards made no effort to save the drowning people. The overseas Pakistanis are pointing fingers at the establishment and using the incident as leverage to peddle their agenda on social media.
What else, even the traffickers are pleading not guilty.
...
Smell the ashes of human society... and yes, I'm a part of it.
I'm very much self-aware!
While absolutely tragic - and in essence a lot of people to blame for it including the ones who are responsible for the condition of Pakistan’s economy to the smugglers to the greek authorities.
There are three factors to consider in the overall view of the tragedy:
1. Even India with its starstruck economy has illegal migrants using mexico and canada trying to come to the US and other avenues to the west
2. As a legal migrant, I abhor illigal migrants because criminals do use them as cover to cross in. So the same applies to Europe - they have any and all rights to prevent migrants from coming in illegally especially after Germany and others screwed up other states with their refugee policies.
3. Be it the institutional maliase of the establishment and the brown gora mentality, their alliance with the feudals and long term business elite club - or the variety of factors that have left Pakistan pretty much a failed state and economy trundling along - the desperation that has been created has been amplified so the business of these smugglers.
The retd colonel has been fairly apathetic to the situation and is blaming the result and not the cause(lack of opportunity at home) - but at the end the desperate avenue these people chose is both legally wrong and extremely dangerous. Both with their associated risks and results
Unfortunately that this Col. got born.
But witness how sensitive are soldiers towards the people of Pakistan.
Most are very sensitive - it seems in the polarization no one wants to turn their brains on.
The soldiers are from Pakistan, and are Pakistanis - so at the end this particular col represents a mentality which is part of many Pakistanis
