What's new

Religious intolerance 'the new racism'

The riot was not anti-muslim but was Anti-Hindu. At that day ram Barat was scheduled but muslims didn't allow to pas the Barat. In that riot Muslims burned and looted many Hindu's shop. Nothing happened to muslims.

This was not the first time or the last time. The Muslim calender and Hindu calender follow lunar/solar cycles. So there are days when their religious days fall on the same day. It is going on many centuries. The government and these communities should pre-plan routes for these celebrations so that there no riots. It is like 2 years old kids fighting for same toy.

But why in case of pakistan hindus are poor . they are not any significant position.
Like you said :-
Hindus are poor in pakistan. Poor don't have busy and interesting life so they stay home and have babies. Then why there fertility rate is not more than muslims.?

In all honesty, thats one of the most ridiculous thing I have read!

I came from a fairly poor family, but I have had a very interesting childhood and oh, I didn't help make a ton of babies! (contraception did help me there, though ;))

What are you talking about? Name one incidence after gujrat riots (that was like 8 years ago)?? If you cant then it wont be unfair to label you a dellusional fool.

And babri site demolition was an inevitable and welcome move as it was pending for like 4 centuries, however the consequent riots were unfortunate and regrettable. but that too was like 2 decades agao. I am happy that you did not bring up the 65 years old riots during partition just to prove your case that "There is hardly a year where there has been no anti-Muslim pogram in India"

Yes babari site demolition was a welcome move for saffron politicians not for common Hindu in India. They believe in communal harmony and secularism.

Exactly ! The Hindus in Pakistan may high fertility rates but Muslim rate is even higher. In Canada, the poor have more children and at younger age. I know a Canadian who is a grandmother at 36, while others are starting to have children at that age. So there are multi-generation families and that increase the rates even higher.

The magic word is contraception/family planning. Pakistan does not have extensive family planning clinics. Even if it had the fertility would not drop significantly. The Catholic also have higher fertility as the Pope is against contraception/family planning. The Catholics even don't allow condoms in African regions where AIDS and HIV have high rates.

My bad.

@Nahraf:
It is one of the most ignorant, foolish and ridiculous statements, Evah!!
How does following different faiths affect fertility rates among women? Can you provide some scientific evidence for that?

ps: to avoid confusion, please use "quotes" to quote of other members' posts.

That was I heard at school and noticed in Pakistan. Usually poor people in Pakistan have more children. Let me rephrase "Most poor people have more children but some don't". That is my point I hope clears up the confusion. Please answer my points with an argument rather than insults.

What nehaf said was totally unjustified; race or colour has no influence on how many babies you can make. Coming back to topic, yes there is a growing number of incidents of Religious intolerance throughout the world.

As the global village expands, the protectionist will become more and more desperate in a bid to “protect” their cultural values from the external “invasion”, spreading xenophobia and hatred.

Yeah, I always wondered if there were any Muslims living in Indian Punjab having 51% Muslim population in 1947 and now an almost non-existent one.

I also think. Lahore and karachi were hindu majority. Now hindus are non-existent in two cities.

In Punjab region the exchange was upto 99.99.% due to widespread riots. They lived closer to the border so they escaped to the other side. Some choose to stay as Hindus of Sindh and Muslims in Gujarat.
