Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday said that the government resolved issues with Maulana Abdul Aziz through dialogue, as it wanted the situation in the capital to remain normal.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that there were several cases against Maulana Aziz but the government wanted the situation in the capital to remain normal. "That's why we keep talking to them," he said, adding that Maulana Aziz had an issue every other day.
"Every day he has an issue and every day we try to resolve it," he said, adding that there were 511 madrassahs and 1,000 mosques in the capital.
"Out of 511, we have issues with only one which we resolve through dialogue."
Without naming the entity he was referring to, the minister said that the government had made such efforts with another religious organisation. "However, the result of that was not a good one," he said.
The minister's statement comes days after police registered a case against Maulana Aziz, his collaborators as well as seminary students under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and different sections of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) after flags representing the Afghan Taliban were found hoisted on the rooftop of Jamia Hafsa in G-7/3.
Maulana Aziz had also openly threatened police with dire consequences by using the name of the Afghan Taliban.
However, after registering the first information report (FIR), it was decided to seal it. This was the third time since Aug 21 Afghan Taliban flags were hoisted on the seminary.

Why Sheikh Rasheed says that Islamabad administration is negotiating with this man? How come this man is having so much support in Islamabad? There are many religious scholars of Deoband origin teaching and administrating Madaris in Pakistan, but none of them behave so aggressively.

Though I have seen few of them accompanied with armed guards due to life threats, but I never saw any of the scholars holding weapons.

Lal Masjid incident in 2007 resulted around 100 Pakistanis killed because of his stubbornness and aggressive attitude. Weapons cache was also found after the seizure of Lal Masjid campus. There is enough evidence to pin down this man but still he is present in Lal Masjid, Islamabad.

IMO Islamabad authorities should take stern action by at least expelling and deporting (for life) this person from Islamabad.

That is the aim. We have those who openly support Najdi movement and those who claim to be ahlus sunnah but are wolf in sheep clothing. They come on media and talk in a sweet tone that we shouldn't be sectarian but these same are the biggest supporters of Islamic militancy, they change people from sufi/shia to their sect but then claim we are not sectarian. Then those who openly preach and those who use violence. If any action is taken against them then Saudi pressure takes place.

The process is gradual change of society as you need to change the public opinion first. The same religion started with the support of British and now being used to divide the ummah.

The elite level society of Pakistan worships riyal and money so they don't mind the change, as long as they have power and support from gulf arabs and their brother Israel.

The media always hide lal Masjid facts. They will never mention about the arm militants inside lal Masjid, about a military personal being shot dead before the operation. Lastly why take the military operation when the same lal Masjid people are back in there. Who supports these lal Masjid people? Which international players pressures Pakistan?
