My previous professor was a judge at one of these Intel science fairs. Basically all the work is done by parents or professors/graduate students/engineers that they know. She told me straight up that there is no way these kids could have these sort of knowledge. It is almost certain that the project was designed by others, and all the kids did was follow cookbook instructions to build it.

Your professor was making serious conjectures. I am not ruling out there are such ample or "excessive" assistance to some of the candidates but to have made the claim that "there is no way ...almost certain" may be overboard.

There seems to be a consistant ethnicity patterns of the semi-finalists, finalists and winners since the inception of the contest. Judging from their last names, the largest no of these students in the lots seems to be ethnic Chinese and S Asians

However if what your professor said was indeed true then the "Intel Talent Search" organisers have to think about fixing the rules to prevent the situation from happening

However what has made me amazed, for not because of I am a Chinese nor I know the endeavours of my own and the people who are close to me, is we have a very impressive record of excellence in an overwhelmingly large number of international tests and challenges, be they academic, chess board games, computer processing speed and vloume, programming or video games, or in arts or oher mind games..etc, for many years in particular in the last few decades which all together serve a strong testament against the curses of the haters that we have done something very right along the line

Lux de Vertias is the most anti-Chinese member on this forum. Like he said himself, the majority of his negative ratings came from me, for his personal attacks and abuse against Chinese people here.

Then a few months back he switched to attacking Muslims.
