Damn.

Even Lord of the Rings Trilogy cost only $300 million and Avatar cost $200 million.

Where is all this money going?

A Qatar-based film production company has said it would shoot a three-part movie series depicting the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

QATAR (AA) - September 19, 2012 - A Qatar-based film production company has said it would shoot a three-part movie series depicting the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad amid violent protests across the Muslim world sparked by an anti-Islam film that insulted and denigrated the Islamic prophet.

Qatari company Nur's CEO Ahmad Hashem told The Anadolu Agency on Wednesday that the film will deliver "the universal message" of the Prophet Muhammad and that it was a response to "Innocence of Muslims," the American production that has sent thousands on Muslims to storm US diplomatic missions in several Muslim countries within the past week.
Hashem said the film's budget would be around $450 million, adding that its scenario was almost complete which said was drafted after consultations with Islamic scholars.

This is a film series consisting of three movies. So i think on average one movie will cost around $150mil. Are the qataris getting hollywood actors? Cause they tend to overpay them everytime the hollywood actors turn up for their projects

400m could include adverts and other expenses as well. Still a far shot from ever costing that much. Specially when there is no actor for the lead role.

Wasn't there one movie made called Mohammed Messenger of God. Anyone seen it?

Ironically the director Moustapha Akkad was killed in an Al Qaida bombing. The movie itself was banned in most of arab world and lead to violence in Hyderabad, India recently and the show banned by the local govt body.

All the best to qatar.

That budget may include bribe for censor boards?

Hope this is not a over reaction...
450 Million dollars looks like a knee jerk reaction... Profitability might be in Question...
A small Qs? When muslims dont allow even pics or cartoons of PBUH to be published, will they accept a film about him?
Anyways all the best to qatar:)

A film is acceptable, if the faces of the characters are not being revealed. That is what the major Ulema ruled regarding the film 'The message'.

could u be more elaborate?
How can a film be taken without characters face being revealed?
Or am i missing something here!?

I thought it was against Islam to show the face of the Prophets?

How are they planning to make a movie without showing the face?

The face or voice of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, His wives, daughters, and the 4 caliphs were not revealed in the movie ' The Message'. Look it up on wikipedia or something.

Why is that? even face is fine? How without voice?
If they take a film, like how u mentioned, audience will guarentee, that the film wont be a hit...

The message was quite a hit IMO.

The main character was His PBUH uncle, Hazrat Hamza RA.

Whenever some dialogue through the Holy Prophet PBUH was needed, somebody else would offer the dialogues, as if repeating what the Holy Prophet PBUH said. His face was never revealed, rather a view through His PBUH's eyes was shown. Organ music was also there when His presence was to be indicated. Quite a long time since i've seen this film, some facts maybe a bit vague, but His face was never shown,

probably this is exactly the kind of response that he was expecting while making the movie on Prophet Mohammad.stupid people.
