Proposed Block 70 F-16 for India to have F-35 technology

Just a plane on paper as a business offer for India yet though US-Pakistan relations are on different level in this regard and D.C wouldn't loose it that easily. There are still many factors, unknown to outside word, to balance the equation in this region. US in history has been selling to everyone and when it comes to neighboring rivals or possible conflict, US sells to balance the weight through different categories. After all, it will take sometime to come to fruition and the balancing weight will be in place.
If the production line set up in India Pakistan won't go.for.F_16. Any other platform.will they choose.?

.
Getting nuclear components is much easier...even North Korea also got them...it is also much easier to build a crude nuclear bomb.

Spare parts of fighter planes is not that easy to get. It will almost impossible for Pakistan to get if F16 assembly line shifts to India. F16's may be 4th gen, but there are no viable 5th gen planes now. If USAF plans to keep F16s until 2040, it means F16's are being constantly upgraded and 5th gen technology being incorporated.
U didnt got my point... they can get through third parties or through mid company

Till then there will be more Windows e end jf program will be on other level

Even during sanctions, PAF has been able to get the spare although was from Black market and bit high in cost but when there is will there is a way. NGF is to be expected as next plane however, what discussed behind the doors, remains behind the doors for a good reason and right time. Assembly line in India to rolling out the first 16 for India, will still take time which is not finalized yet but an offer on paper so let see how events turns though things are kept in view as well as keeping eye on every change in the region and threat assessment is done properly.

Do you think that paf will sleep over this issue?they will change theirs mainstay platform either towards Russian su 35s or Chinese fighters or European fighters.

its not about spares... f 16 was always temporary. we need a 5th gen planee and we need one soon

PAF has an edge in experience on the F-16 in general

That may only help in the short term. The active tenure of a pilot is around 15 years. So any advantage would be mitigated/nullified by ~2025.

But that exactly what India wants. This is one deal which enhances IAF while directly hurting the PAF.

PAF moving to a new platform means India has succeeded in forcing PAF waste its money which would otherwise go into other acquisitions.

This is the reason why India is going for both F-16s and Gripens .

The only option for PAF would be Chinese ones. Others would be very expensive.

Lockheed isn’t just looking for a new customer in India, but a new manufacturing partner and base of operations for the final assembly of F-16s. The company’s proposal will "hit the sweet spot of ‘make in India'” initiatives that Lockheed has pursued more aggressively this year, Howard said. Lockheed already builds C-130J Super Hercules empennages out of Hyderabad in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. (TASL) and sees an opening to expand those opportunities following the inking of a U.S.-India agreement in April to share defense logistics.

Pak will get spare or USA will face strong set back in case of future deals with developing countries especially if Hillary wins presidential elections then at least in medium term Pak may not face much problems regarding spares or defense equipment of secondary nature.

If India goes for it means No more F-16 for Pakistan.
In a sense it will be good for us that PAF will consider a different platform.
But our F-16 numbering 76 will all be useless bcz India is going to procure them in Hundreds which we never did in 33 years.

Only role of F16s from 1st tier to 2nd tier will change as it is going to happen any way in medium term as PAF is looking for new aircraft of 4+ gen along with block 3 of JF17. We at least should try to equip our F16s with AMRAAM 120 C7 and AIM9X.

PAF being a smaller air force shall always face limitations in numbers but now we should try to get quality jets at least parallel to IAF if not superior.

Building C130 is more useful than F16..

Spares won't be problem for PAF,
With 1000s of aircraft to be retired.

I yet to believe India will buy F16 .

If India acquires F16, then for Pakistan to get spares will become nightmare and will render their F16 useless.

I think there was already one statement from Pakistan side that they are not taking more F 16 and going for Chinese made J 17.

Why not get few squadrons of f35. I'll prefer one f35 instead of 3 f16i at any day

There has been a statement of Lockheed Martin CEO about F 35 can be sold to India , if Indian Government sent a proposal to US Government .

So here its more or less depends on the Government of India and Government of United States.

With the current relations , spares will be problem because non of the major NATO and Non NATO allies would sell spares to Pakistan , the only option will be the Israelis as always as work against UNITED STATES interest.

This is bullship. I can't believe it's even in consideration. Americans are too slick to give up their latest technology. I would hate to agree to F16s but if I do have to, I'd only do it if they allow us to supply parts to every country that flies F16s. It also must have the F35 HMDS.

f35 Helmet is made by Elbit systems from Israel

This will have no impact on Pakistan other than just superficial "look what we got" as the F-16 has been ingrained in the Pakistan psyche. F-16 is the past. The only fighter PAF should be looking to is over the horizon - 5th gen over the next decade plus. Untill then the present F-16 does the job and will keep slogging it out until then. Save money and then when it is time to upgrade - move up to next level by seeking Chinese 5th gen. as that will be the only source available past 2025. Over that time Chinese aviation industry will mature.

Not realistic. You can't integrate TESLA autonomous driving technologies in a BMW from the 80's.

Easier and cheaper to develop a new platform or buy ready ones.
