Professor of Sindh university: why all other nationalities people are allowed to work&trade in Sindh

You are not a racist madam, you are a xenophobe. Do you know the difference professor? Plus these are not nationalities, there is only one nationality, Pakistani, these are ethnicities. Get a book professor, have a read of something worthwhile and stop talking like a sore loser. Sindiyon ka naam kharab mat karo. Be less jahil, live longer - public service message for all ignorants like Prof. Falani.

If one needed any further proof that Karachi and Hyderabad need to be separated from Sindh. These Sindhis can vote for PPP for the next five decades why should we suffer because of it?

I hate how weak IK and establishment is in front of hijra Billoo while him and his party continue to play the Sindh card

That's news for me. Pakistanis also have their Shiv Sena-like regional supporters.

I have known quite a few Pakistanis of Sindhi origin. All of them were Muslims but they have very strong feelings about their region, language, customs etc. I see nothing wrong with that.

SS is a religious organization too

It's not that religious compared to BJP. Sure their leaders talk of Hindutva, and are anti-Pakistan. Their goons have often crashed the shows of Ghulam Ali and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and were responsible for denying Bollywood roles to Pakistani actresses and actors (I personally liked the infusion of Pakistani artistes in India as they offered a lot of freshness. But then again I stopped watching Bollywood sometime around 2005).

But that is not their number one agenda. They are more concerned with Maratha Nationalism, and their goons often beat up Hindus from other states for taking away jobs.

They don't mind Indian Muslims, or just about anyone as long as the persons speak fluent Marathi.

So, it's clearly a regionalist outfit.

I do understand where you are coming from but out of all those urdu posts in this thread you only found mine worthy of a reminder

:disagree:
Picked the last one I saw. I mean, you want me to go back and quote every single one?

That’s a pain when browsing on mobile.

It’s not like you got an official warning or any thing.

In any case, Let me clarify for everyone - transliteration or use of languages other than English is against forum rules, barring the occasional phrase.

You know why all these things are coming up? Because their corruption is being exposed.. Wheat scandal, Ahsas Program cash scandal etc etc.

Look at the trend this scum PPP is running on twitter.. If you question them or try to educate the people, you become anti Sindh automatically.

I watched a video clip a few days back.. someone (probably a Sindhi speaking local) was distributing ration in low income areas, he was beaten by the wadera and his goons mercilessly. Why? Because these waderas don't want that Sindhi awam looks towards any individual other than them for help.

Hence why we need some kind of mechanism distribute resources through a national institution, that is not tied to any party. I agree, corrupt elements of any and all parties need to be exposed if there is going to be any progress. Institution building with transparent oversight is the only way that can be done. Coupling job training with a full education is also nessecary to break the hold of the political parties and vote banks. Having said all that, affirmative action is the only way, in the short to medium term (20-30 years) to help a generation catch up, while we fix the structural corruption problems.

The quota system has already been extended till 2033. No change possible before then.

In essence, given the track record of the PPP in Sindh for the last several decades, even ‘affirmative action’ isn’t going to accomplish anything without a new political party coming into power in Sindh. That is not to say that a new political party in power will suddenly perform miracles, but it will end the monopoly of the PPP in Sindh and the ‘competition’ will hopefully push all political parties operating in Sindh (including the PPP) to try and perform better.

The PPP will push to try to absorb that political party, unless the core of that party is able to resist intimidation and its party workers stand firm and are not being bought off. It also has to be an indigenous movement, otherwise local people will see it as a move by outsiders. Perhaps a member of the landed elite or wealthy business person, that are ready for reform can gather enough people to form a party and hold it together.

In the mean time, accepting and working on the legitimate grievances of the Sindhi people will maintain social harmony and maintain the trust between the people and national parties. It leaves the door open for national parties to try to win seats, against the odds, in Sindh.

Hi,

I have lived in interior Sindh and these Sindhis are not wrong in what they are saying---.

At first it the urdu speakers that had all the top jobs in karachi / hyderabad---then came the punjabis---but most of them settled and cultivated land---then came the pashtuns and then came the afghans---.

The sindhis are being crushed for a longtime---nice folks that they are---.
i work with sindhis and they are to laziest people in the world!! all their men do is sit at hotels chew pan watch tv and drink tea! their laziness allowed left space for others to occupy!

Fair point she makes. The reason is the entire trade of 200 million people is funneled through Sindh to the only port in Pakistan ~ Karachi. All imports of 200 million are also aggregated at Karachi. This creates massive economic pull and gravity. Solution is better transport network and more ports like Gwadar. In addition dispersal of national investment and institutions to other regions of Pakistan so there is more spread. For instance move PIA HQ to Peshawar etc

Let the Chinese turn Gwadar into another Shenzen or Tianjin on the Arabian Sea that will surely get the mobsters in Karachi crying hopefully

You know I was really excited about that possibility. However things are NOT looking good. Two things are must.

  • Gwadar MUST get connect to all of Pakistan via rail and motorways. When this happens Gwadar would become a alternative to Karachi. Don';t forget Karachi has had 150 years head start in laying of transport links. The British built the first rail line to connect Punjab with Karachi way back in 1870s. Ever since roads and other infra has built up over that 150 years. Recently we saw M5 motorway completed which further improves Karachi's connectivity with 200 million people of market of Pakistan. Entire chain supply has buiult up.
  • Gwadar has NOTHING. It has to catch up with that 150 years advantage Karachi enjoys. However I suspect because the government is facing finiancial crunch it does not have $50 billion that would be needed to connect Gwadar comprehensively with rest of Pakistan.
  • Gwadar must be left in control of Balochistan government and it's people must get primary first preferantial. Money must be spent to build up humam capital. Internal migration must be restricted like China does to prevent Baloch being swamped and feeling estranged from their land which will fuel political instability enabling the terrorist activity.
