LONDON: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said that he can’t provide the desired “relief” to former premier Nawaz Sharif and can only meet him in Adiala jail after retirement, ARY News reported.

Talking to reporters in London, the president said that people can object if they want but he will meet Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifelong leader Nawaz Sharif for the bond he shares with the former PM.

When asked if he will use his power to provide “relief” to members of Sharif family, he said he can’t do that and can only meet the imprisoned members of the family in jail after retirement.

He repeated his stance over the 2018 general elections and said that the Election Commission of Pakistan should address the reservations of opposition parties and should probe all rigging allegations.

It is pertinent to note here that Mamnoon Hussain’s tenure as President of Pakistan will end on September 9, 2018.

His former party leader, Nawaz Sharif was arrested on July 13 along with his daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif when the duo returned to the country. The arrest was in compliance with July 6 court order in the Avenfield reference case.

Accountability court had handed Nawaz Sharif 10 years as jail time for owning assets beyond income and 1 year for not cooperating with NAB in the Avenfield properties corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

His daughter Maryam Nawaz was given 7 years for abetment, and her husband Captain (retd) Safdar was given 1 year for non-cooperation with the anti-graft authority.

That explains why opposition is dying to get Maulana Fazlu elected

.
I have been saying this that President Mamnoon Hussain denied NS and MS to provide any relief and that cardinal sin in the cult called PMLn so that is why he needs security even after the retirement.

.
I suspect if the president was even capable of relieving himself.

I have mentioned it so many times this is pure waste of tax payers money. why do we need both president and prime minister? Why do we need Governors and chief ministers? why do we need commissioners and councillors?

While we are at cutting costs, we need to change our constitution and get rid of president, governors and commissioners. what do they even do besides sucking out tax money?

What we need is the Presidential Democracy. Majority Ballot/bayt. Every single voter has a direct say on who should be the leader, instead of a group of 300+ deciding the leader.

.
I totally agree. Whether we call that position President or PM does not matter. I as a Pakistani citizen should be able to contest for that position without the need to join any political party. People should choose their leader whos should choose his ministers not the other way round.

It would be very dangerous for the Federation.

Parliamentary form of Govt. was chosen for a reason in the 1973 constitution.
It is to strengthen the federation by having representation of each unit in the lower and upper houses.
In Presidential form both executive and head of state is president; not the same in parliamentary form. This separation of power is critical for the federation of Pakistan.
Presidential form may result in despotism due to localization of power in one person.

When you say 'each unit', do you mean provinces?

Yes.
Recall the "One Unit" approach towards the end of Ayub Khan's Govt. That was a Presidential Form that Ayub Khan tried to implement. It resulted in concentration of power in one man - Ayub Khan; and as a result, caused misperceptions between the provinces (East Pakistan included).
For this reason 1973 constitution stayed away from Presidential Form.

To add to my earlier post, it is for this reason that the Proportional Representative System is difficult to implement in Pakistan

Please do some research on the differences between a presidential and parliamentary system of government. It is the parliamentary system that has no checks and balances or separation of powers. That is why the politicians like it and support it, as it has allowed them to loot and plunder the nation for years. Please do not compare the presidency under military dictatorship in Pakisan to a true presidential system. Pakistan has never had a true presidential system ever. That is what we need a directly elected president where there is a separation of executive and legislative powers. Checks and balances between all institutions. Unfortunately none of the existing political parties will allow this. Too bad PTI did not get 2/3 majority in parliament and senate.

Greedy leeches & plague of feudal mindset coupled with VIP Culture is even debating and opposing the idea of transforming Governance House into an international level educational institute yet; we expect that anyone can cut down useless posts as such and a single governance system can be implemented like this. We will find expensive and "total waste of public money" style governance only in Pakistan and countries from third world.

totally agreed these all three sucks lot of govt public land of acres to provide them home in constitution theu ahve no positive role to do any good for anything they these posts should be deleted from system turkey already cut that crap from their constitution

we will save biooions by cutting these per annum
people say that the president is symbol of state and chief of armed forces why cant we give these both power to PM or keep presidential post and delete PM

or bring a new constitution like turkey let people choose directly a presidential candidates by their votes and MNA and MPA in seprate vote

president should rule the govt which is directly choosed by peoples votes not by those MNA who directed by party leaders who to vote for

MNA and MPA job is to only make laws for betterment of country

funds for infastructure should be directed by ministers under president to their portfolio to direct to lower councils and counselers of areas

why that fazlu want to fight for presidental post since he said that this assembly is not lawfull to rule they came by establishment why he want thta same assembly vote for him which he dont accept them as elected representatives of people of pakistan what a hypocratic he is
