Presence of Indian forces is harmful to Siachen Glacier: Sartaj Aziz

Yes ofcourse, the govt of the two countries will tell the truth. Only someone not related to the govt will have the courage to write the truth. But you go ahead and believe the govt version as it is more soothing to the heart. 846 sounds so much less than 5000 deaths. So it is alright. Everyone can live with that.
I am sure the dead soldiers families must be wondering if the sacrifice was worth it when the soldier died of the harsh weather conditions and not enemy bullets. But then it is not our families, not our relatives who died, so for us yes they did a supreme sacrifice and died for our country. Thats the important part after all.

Hell, No: I know what the truth is. Family members and Friends (including Course-Mates) served there and survived. They now wear the High Altitude (Siachen) Medal among their ribbons.

1949 was different, 1984 was again different and 2013/going on 2014 is still more different. As long as there are adversary Neighbors; the Borders will have to be manned and casualties will follow.
We know that and live with that. When the world around us changes, this will change.
Till then; status quo.

HAWS can single-handedly be attributed with tapering altitude related casualties. Been to the place, they really get the folks going, apparently getting certified there as an instructor is as bad as surviving through SERE.

Not just HAWS. To start with, HMRI Darjeeling created the first set of Alpinist training Instructors. Apart from HAWS; the SBS has really being training troops to acclimatise properly. Then for technological advancements, there has been SASE and R&DE(E) that helped to create proper shelters and other eqpt to survive the inhumanly harsh conditions in Siachen. The number of people volunteering to serve on Siachen has not reduced.

I asked a question on another thread which was why Pakistanis though India would demilitarse Siachen & what Pakistan would bring to the table. The question remained largely untouched.

Saraj Aziz went to India & spoke to MMS about Siachen. He was told that Siachen will only be resolved in a complete Kashmir settlement. Hence the hot air talk about climate from the Pakistani establishment.

Presence of Indian forces on Siachen Glacier is harmful to the environment Sartaj Aziz

so he agrees that ONLY INDIA HAS PRESENCE in siachen:dance3: unlike few pakistanis:lol:
