In Pakistan the broiler chicken is nit worth eating anymore.. It has lost its taste and now Avalible from no where a clean steroid free chicken. The big portion of our imports is chicken feed.. As we all know hamza shahbaz poultry and chicken import those feeds with duty. And those feeds imported from America made up of pig and what not chemicals . The chicken has no problem.
The feed and steroid injections destroys it .
Mutton is only thing left right now in Pakistan. But not many people can afford it.
Beef is used for specific foods that cannot be made otherwise such as nihari etc..

The haram ones have been clearly mentioned in Quran, outside that anything that makes you feel like what you already said, or uncomfortable or disgusting to consume, or mere mentioning of consuming its meat makes you puke can be considered haram. For me, personally, consuming any animal that hasn't been raised for consumption and hasn't been generally consumed is haram (irrespective of what others think or say), like just thinking of eating quail or any other bird except for chicken makes me uncomfortable, I don't eat rabbit even though people consider it halal, similarly a pregnant animal, an animal with a calf, calf itself, a sick animal ............ they are all haram for me, don't need a molvi for that.

And ofcourse being a punjabi and from lahore, may be on a day when the sun rises from the west only then we eat fish in summer. No matter how much you want to eat fish in summer but it is only eaten in winter. And that too in limited verity Avalible in lahore . We simply don't eat fish in summer . Even Mr cod fish and. Chips was closed in lahore where as Mcdonald and KFC thrived despite having millions of local burger Shops.

It doesn't matter, the taste is more or less same for both desi as well as valayti kukkar. By the way the valayti kukkar also have its origin from either south asia or south east asia according to modern genetic studies.

If only people understand that both are 2 different verities of chicken and nothing as desi and waliyati .
If you raise broiler free range on your farm feeding it natural grains and let it roam free in your pasture to graze freely and don't inject it with steroids then it would be as healthy and the desi .
Besides if you feed desi chicken the chemical food and steroid injection it would become same as broiler .
I agree that chicken nowadays is not of good quality and no taste With so many veins and blood inside no matter where you buy it from even from zenith and meat dukan they are not fine .
The only solution is to raise your own chickens but we city dwellerscannot.
Desi chicken it not grown on commercial scale because it is. It feasible because of very small size compared to broiler.
Whereas a desi chicken take months to grow broiler is ready in less time and has more meat . Throughout the world it is a preferred chicken and only this is sold commercially but with natural foods and environment . So it taste better and is healthy.

A common Pakistani lacks knowledge you see.
You would hear every conspiracy from yahoodi imposing this chicken on Muslims to decrease their child birth Or these chickens are born without fathers so they are not halal. Or they have been bred with pig as though a pig and a chicken can have intercourse and produce of springs....
The kind of theories I have heard over the years .
Government should focus on raising the awareness and knowledge of people by airing informative programs on TV . Just like in old days they show how to produce sikh or cottage cheese or butter or mushrooms at home in ptv.
How to raise chcikena and how to raise crops at home .
How people in Europe grow fruit in their own homes and make surplus fruits into jams,jellys and marmallads . Where as our farmers spoil half their crops . Home owners don't utilize their crops and if they do, they have to eat it at once rather then making jams and pickles. Every vegetables can be stores via pickling.
Imgaine a people living in a poor village barely surviving. Only if they have a mango and and orange tree and they make enough jams and marmallads . The kids can have easy nutrions snack to eat in breakfast or noon lunch.
Only if they have cow or goat they can get milk and convert it into cheese and butter,the cow producing offspring is a source of income too .
People are looking towards making their own, growing their own etc but we are so less knowledgeable that if we want to do anything we cant.
People don't know how to keep Bees . They don't know how to grow mushrooms or how to make Veg garden .
How to grow expenaive vegetables and store them etc.
The city people usually make faces at these kinds of things . And village people just know nothing. They use the same old archaic methods of low productivity and Not full utilization of crops or animals.

Same is the case in india...broiler chicken lost its taste because of steroids...i stopped eating chocken..only mutton and prawns...country chicken is in demand though

You may opt for Desi chicken. I particularly go for the variety "Aseel", from Mianwali, which weighs from 2.5 to 3.5 kilo (live weight), with an age of the order of 1 year. It is available in Lahore and it's taste is marvelous.
