What's new

PN to acquire twin engine jet aircraft - Tender

.
This aircraft would be converted as MPA and would be used in following roles
  • Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)
  • To counter asymmetric maritime threats and challenge
  • Anti-surface warfare (ASuW)
  • Anti-submarine warfare(ASW)
  • Airborne Early Warning (AEW)
  • Training
  • Search and Rescue
I might be wrong but it appear that PN is trying to replicate SAAB swordfish MPA

I didnt get a chance to follow up with anyone in PN.

Did you hear anything along these lines?

And I doubt if jets can be used for SAR ops. Usually heli's deployed. No?

Officially confirmed news .....

In my opinion in SAR role it will be use to locate and analysis and direct rescue efforts to the area of incident

. . .
as per my understanding currently PN is acquiring Jet which in the second stage will be fitted with required ITAR free systems via third party probably in Germany, more or less same model as ATR-72 conversion into MPA
Make sense I believe means they are happy with ATR - 72 performance so far only thing PN should focus now her own independent fighter wing around 50 jets makes PN a blue water Navy

PN does not need its own fighter fleet in my opinion.

Our coastal and maritime depth doesn't require a dedicated blue water naval operations.

Only if our JSHQ does its work. All should be good.

It's basically Sea Eagle XL (i.e., the same Sea Eagle subsystems from the ATR-72, but this time, applied to a larger platform and with added AShW capabilities).

I mean PN should be free for theior own operations and hitting enemy deep.
