PM Imran slams 'irresponsible' statement by Indian army chief

No, we'll offer a proportional military response when they militarily provoke us, as we did after Balakot.

Balakot is Pakistan proper.

The government is simply following the Musharraf proposal and he is a declared traitor of the highest order.

I do not need to say anything more

A proposal is judged on its merits, not on the basis of who made the proposal.

By your yardstick we've been in a State of war ever since India refused to implement the UNSC Resolutions on J&K, which has been several decades.

J&K is disputed territory between India and Pakistan - that doesn't mean we have to have an ongoing full scale military conflict between both countries till one or the other gives up the disputed land.

Simla agreement is null and void.

Jinnah's 1947 edict is now in action.

A proposal is judged on its merits, not on the basis of who made the proposal.

The proposal is not acceptable to the Muslims of Pakistan. Period

I never said anything about Simla, and I have no disagreement that Simla is null and void after India's actions in Balakot. In fact, as I have often argued, Simla does not apply to the J&K dispute to begin with since it was an existing dispute with a dispute resolution mechanism outlined by the United Nations Security Council that all parties to the dispute had already agreed to implement.
The proposal is not acceptable to the Muslims of Pakistan. Period
Says who? Based on what empirical data? The elected legislators and government are representatives of the people of Pakistan and they have the authority to take actions under the constitution on behalf of the people.

Is there any official source from GoP that says Simla agreement and Lahore declaration is null and void??? I dont think so.
If yes then all other agreements including UNSC and Indus water treaty will null and void from our side.

There is a reason why a military dictator with the powers of constitutional amendments was chosen to deliver it but even he failed.

When has any agreement with any country ever has managed to bring a debate in the parliament? Even this NAB Law and Extension Act have not faced proper debate in the public nor the parliament.

The ruling elite simply accepts Indian hegemony for economic growth.

Pakistan should declare CPEC Jammu corridor if the government needs be taken seriously.

This is what technically the situation is. Only the governments are keeping the masses in complete darkness for mutual benefaction

None of that answers my question on what empirical evidence you have that the majority of the people of Pakistan support your solution of initiating a war with India over J&K right now.

Again - irrelevant.

The elected government represents the people of Pakistan and is authorized to take constitutional actions on behalf of the people of Pakistan as it sees fit. If the people of Pakistan believe that their elected representatives 'betrayed' them or did not pursue policies that they wanted, they can vote them out in the next elections.

That is the crudest form of defense one can post as an apology.

Voter turnout was less than 50 percent in 2018.

Government of Pakistan is not representative of the people to bargain territory on executive clauses nor has the mandate.

You can bring me the specific clause which you are seeking for such lofty powerful positions. Head of government cannot declare war nor any territorial treaties that is the job for the head of the state.

Two different worlds altogether.

If the voter turnout was low then that's the fault of the electorate for not turning out.

Apathy towards the election process is a problem. If people are going to stay at home and not vote then they can't complain when the elected government doesn't reflect their desires.

Get out and vote! Protest and file petitions in court for electoral reforms that help increase voter turnout!

When people go protesting unconstitutional changes in matters of Islamic faith they are mowed down like locusts on a grassy field of panipat.

A weak Prime Minister takes to state television to threaten protesters with military might of the Pakistan Armed Forces.

I ain't going out protesting for a petition to install 1000 kings in Sindh n Hind based on racial and sectarian electorates.

Unconstitutional changes can be challenged in court.

Existing settled law is difficult to challenge in court (unless there's some creative legal work involved that argues that existing law artificially suppresses voter turnout which is therefore a violation of the right to vote).

But on that note, do you see the current election laws as artificially suppressing voter turnout? If yes, how so?

People have the right to protest. They are labeled as terrorists just because they are Muslims and in majority by tyrannical parliamentarians who have taken their tribal battles to the parliament.

The dictator inspired Charter of Democracy not representative of Democracy in Pakistan. That treaty was signed in UK by colonial pets employed by American monopoly guy.

The current elections do not hold any value. The interim government was not impartial and events leading up to the elections were marred with controversy over electoral reforms and without knowing exactly how many people live in the country.

So what sort of electoral reforms do you want to see that would make you trust the election results more? We had independent monitors during the election that largely said that the elections were just about as 'free and fair' as the previous two.

You talk about 'not knowing how many people live in the country', but we have had a census - do you disagree with the census results? What should be done with the census that will improve your faith the in the census results?
