Ok for those of you who have no idea about the financial situation of PIA, it is a loss making airlines, and can not buy planes. Many of its planes not maintained to a level where they can fly to European countries and thus they are leasing jets as a time saving, face saving measures. And before you argue look at a 5 year financial statement of the airlines and the outlook of the airlines by auditors both government and international.
And the reason for this is mismanagement of the PIA because of continuous political interference with excessive jobs in ratio with planes which are continuously increasing. Political cronies in every government, have inducted their favorites into jobs with the PIA and have continuously ignored the reports of over staffing.

The issue here is that we will privatize this airlines and lose it because no government is brave enough to let go nearly half the work force as needed to make this airlines efficient, nor is it capable of honest reforms needed. Instead of trying to set this airlines we are handing over a potential gold mine to foreign hands with our airport rights because of inefficiency of continuous governments in the last 2 decades.
again before debating search and do not troll.
As far as maintenance is concerned some is done in Pakistan, but over hauling of engines and other assorted parts are not done here.

That would help, but reducing headcount and getting rid of incompetent staff will be more beneficial.

The Flight that go to the USA are required to land in England where the entire aircraft along with Passenger screening would be done. If Pakistan installed the latest screening machinery from US or Europe then they would be allowed to fly directly. The cost saving would be enough to bring the airline around from the red to atleast break even.

The latest screening machinery will work fine but the people in customs and the VIPs are the main problem. Few years ago a federal minister's traveling with son was asked to have his suitcase checked but the minister's son slapped the customs officer while the minister threatened him. How can we guarantee that the customs will do their work without any pressure from the corrupt politicians ?

True PIA needs to be downsized but one must also consider other things not just employees. PIA flies to Europe and back. These flights normally are planed from Karachi via Lahore or Islamabad and the same way on the return. These landing and take-off also cost high amounts of money. People do not know this hence they think it is profitable this way.

Totally agree as is the case with some Gulf Countries where even Pakistanis who travel to USA or Europe through any Gulf carrier are screened at the same very airport in the country to which the carrier belongs, thus saving ample amount of time and money.

For Pakistan and Pakistani people fuel efficient, less maintence cost
A350-1000 (The 366-seater shapes efficiency with 25 per cent operating costs savings compared to its direct competitor) is not better option than too much costly boeing 777.
LOL if going for future planes thn why not 777-9x? much less operating cost thn 350-1000...

right not best option is for a-320/21 and 777. infact we have already ordered around 5 777-3 and i can only wish if PIA transfer that order to 777-9 and meanwhile lease some 777-3

VVIP culture needs to be changed...Things are going to improve when corruption is stemmed out from the top...Till such a time one has to do what is best...

Why not boeing 787 which is latest tech cost and fuel effective pakistan should not stuck on one aircraft

5 B777-300ER that are on ordered by PIA a few years back were supposed to be delivered from this year but there are some delays expected (reasons not known) and they will be now coming in a few years later. If PIA is intending to 10 new B777's then they might be for the replacement of A-310's that PIA currently operates and are now more than 20 years old. The new Aviation policy caps the minimum age that an aircraft can be used as a public transport at 20 years from the date of manufacture.

Airbus A350 has much latest technology.

Because 787 had some technical issues in the past and was grounded for few months due to lithon iron battery faults.

Few atleadt 2 A 380 should be bought which fly from khi via dubai to london other from lahore via dubai to new york im sure it will give more boom to pia becoz people will go full on pia

@Super Falcon
Sir, I have mentioned the requirements of PIA and given the difference between B777 and 787 in an earlier post #25.

Few atleadt 2 A 380 should be bought which fly from khi via dubai to london other from lahore via dubai to new york im sure it will give more boom to pia becoz people will go full on pia
A-380 operation in Pakistan can only be done from Islamabad new International Airport. All the other Airports in Pakistan need to be upgraded if A380's are to be used.

The operation cost of A380 is too high and it is only feasible on long duration flights not 2 hr flights.

Airbus A350 has much latest technology.

Because 787 had some technical issues in the past and was grounded for few months due to lithon iron battery faults.
That issue has been solved...Now it uses the same battery as B777's.
B-787's would not be bought by PIA because Airbus would no like it. When PIA bought the B777's it had to cancel the orders already placed with Airbus of A-340-500. Airbus had to offer these aircraft as buy one get one free in the open market.

Is there maintenance facility will be built in Pakistan or the planes have to move to another country where facility is??

Is there any maintenance facility of civilian aircraft in Pakistan?
yes

A 350 is new carrier made for cuture needs now time to move forward not bank on old things time to change think tank new aircraft brings something new for passangers on table doing that more passangers get attracted

We can use A 380 as a hajj special flights because it can carry more passangers in one go why not but 1 to start with
