I ate at Lombardi's in NYC, widely believed to be the first pizzeria that opened in the US in 1905. Their pizza was quite delicious.

What part of the country are you in, if you don't mind me asking?

I heard that the typical NY pizza slice is without any toppings of meat or vegs. Is it true ?

Interesting you bringing up the sauce because I myself happen to be more into the pizza sauce than the cheese.

I know that probably puts me in the minority of pizza lovers who will say it's the cheese that makes the pizza, not the sauce. I really like tomato pies.
