What's new

PIA women staff new uniforms gives glamorous look

Some comments made on Air India by Indian posters.
I have to be very frank here.

1) Air India is and has improved if not by leaps and bounds, but at least by quite a double digit hops.
2) Cabin crew are getting younger and very presentable. There is a renewed sense of duty amongst flight crew.
3) Air India is now an alliance where membership comes after much administrative improvement and with new equipment, upscaling of service benchmarks. It is a privilige memberhip supported by Lufthansa (as guarantors).

Finally - those who make comments such as AI cabin crew are rude, then let's take a good look at ourselves as passengers first. Indians (or South Asians) are more prone to be hyper emotional. A delay of 10 minutes, we start shouting. Toilets not functioning? We start yelling and shouting. Ask for water ? Typical scene is "Oye, madam, paani laa" (no ounce of courtesy from passengers). If the crew is not young enough, our desi passengers will make disparaging remarks right in front of a 50 year old attendant.

Flights to GULF are the worst in terms of desi passenger behaviour and most airlines put their green-horn recruits to these sectors to get a boot-camp "in-your-face" experience of how to keep your cool, patience and resilience in dealing with one of the toughest routes.

THe attitude of desis on their home airlines usually is "ghar ke hi log hein, unse rudely behave karna koi badi baat nahin.. aadat hein". But once you are in a B.A or other foreign airline, all the desi attitude vanishes away and we behave like bambis.

Still practical and best

Just hire a french designer and be done with it

I think in end , what counts

a) Good Salaries
b) Proper balance of work & rest
c) Attitude towards customer service during short flights (Comes with training and incentive)
d) Transition of crew into Ground role after 10 years of Air Service

If there are long wait lines and , chaos on check in , and horrible service when asking for water or pillow all of this does not matters

For people these days what matter is

a) Easy fast checkin, no bull crap lines waiting to check in
b) Easy seatings close to family
c) Proper positioning of chairs so Uncle in front does not tilts the seat to my crotch
d) Modern planes and service with smile
e) Availability of crew on plane who clean the washrooms during flight keep it fresh
f) No heavy meal during flight , serve a simple sandwhich and Cola or orange juice

Ban on people carrying 10 bags

That might be true. But I don't want it just be "not bad", I want it to be great. The quality of Pakistani food in North America, while fine, leaves something to be desired when compared to food from Pakistan itself. If they did this, believe me when I say many would choose PIA over other airlines. Even the really nice ones.

The road to profits is through good service and especially our stomachs. :D
Our journey is like 8 hours and you cannot eat much in 8 hours and they dont offer you buffet :D quantity of foods is very small as if you are lil baby :P
I can stay without food but what i dislike about PIA is you cannot sleep because of crying of babies and also women talking to each others in loud voices

Looks good to me!

If I visit Pakistan, I'm definitely going to take PIA in and out to get the full proper desi experience my Pak friends keep telling me about :D
thats what i am getting from last 5/6 years..rice with vegetables and some pieces of meats along with same kheer which is delicious but ts like Oont ke muh mein zeera( cumin seed in a camels mouth)

.
worst airline ever is russian aeroflot. Dude seriously...it was so shit that it was almost good. We had a flight from Rome to St. Petersburg. Aeroflot is knowm to be...unique in service in its own way....

When we went in i placed my bag in the storage above me. It didn't fit and i pushed harder...until a stocky flight attendent shouted at me: "young men you sit down now!"

I followed her order. Next to me sat a women who asked for coffee...she got her coffee and the flight attendent moved on...just then the women asked for sugar...flight attendent turned around and said: next time say when im at your place!"

seriously i just waited that someone said...in soviet russia...

Only 8 hours? I'm jealous. The flight from Los Angeles to Japan/South Korea/China alone is over 15 hours.

The flight from here to London is also over 10 hours, non-stop. Though I've never tried that.

We certainly wouldn't mind some great food. :-)

Tood bad we engineering staff just wear our boring suits and ties at best. :D

That said...when you fly honor them. They have one of the hardest jobs out there. If you know the backgound infos you see them in a different light. And i mean all of them on evry airline.

@waz

Are you in any of these pictures?

Trust me when I say, that as good as the food on PIA may be, it is nothing compared to the food on the ground. I wish that I could put into words just how good it is. It's like a drug. You can never get enough. You always want more.

Pakistani food made overseas is a far cry from its authentic counterpart. That's probably the biggest reason that I visit Pakistan. Family is a distant 2nd. :D

Well all airline food never quite captures the local ground food. Thats what happens when you do mass standardised catering combined with the airline environment (low pressure, low humidity, tired travel etc).
