Some comments made on Air India by Indian posters.
I have to be very frank here.
1) Air India is and has improved if not by leaps and bounds, but at least by quite a double digit hops.
2) Cabin crew are getting younger and very presentable. There is a renewed sense of duty amongst flight crew.
3) Air India is now an alliance where membership comes after much administrative improvement and with new equipment, upscaling of service benchmarks. It is a privilige memberhip supported by Lufthansa (as guarantors).
Finally - those who make comments such as AI cabin crew are rude, then let's take a good look at ourselves as passengers first. Indians (or South Asians) are more prone to be hyper emotional. A delay of 10 minutes, we start shouting. Toilets not functioning? We start yelling and shouting. Ask for water ? Typical scene is "Oye, madam, paani laa" (no ounce of courtesy from passengers). If the crew is not young enough, our desi passengers will make disparaging remarks right in front of a 50 year old attendant.
Flights to GULF are the worst in terms of desi passenger behaviour and most airlines put their green-horn recruits to these sectors to get a boot-camp "in-your-face" experience of how to keep your cool, patience and resilience in dealing with one of the toughest routes.
THe attitude of desis on their home airlines usually is "ghar ke hi log hein, unse rudely behave karna koi badi baat nahin.. aadat hein". But once you are in a B.A or other foreign airline, all the desi attitude vanishes away and we behave like bambis.
