There is a meeting tomorrow, and NS will take the cabinet in confidence about JIT proceedings.. I think he will tell everyone to be ready as he is not going to present himself.

Hussain Nawaz appeared before the Panamagate JIT today, yet again. This is the fourth time he has been summoned in a week before the Supreme Court appointed Joint Investigation Team tasked with investigating the purported money laundering of the Sharif family.

Details of the latest hearing have yet to be released but reportedly, his past three hearings have been grueling.

His first appearance before the JIT had been on Sunday when he had been summoned before the JIT on 24 hour notice for questioning.

In his third appearance before the JIT sources say that he was visibly jittery while being questioned by the head of the JIT Additional Director General Wajid Zia.

He had initially raised concerns over two members of the JIT, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s Bilal Rasool and State Bank of Pakistan’s Amer Aziz, accusing them of being close to the PML-N’s political rivals. The three-member bench of the Supreme Court, however, declared that the JIT could not be reconstituted merely over reservations.

His first appearance was brief but after the Supreme Court rejected his petition, He appeared before the JIT the next day and was interrogated for 5 hours. He was also handed a questionnaire regarding financial transactions and assets of the Sharif family.

In his third appearance before the JIT sources say that he was visibly jittery while being questioned by the head of the JIT Additional Director General Wajid Zia.

JIT asked him to state when he became the owner of London Mayfair flats? Hussain replied that he became the owner of those flats in 2006. Earlier it was the property of the Qatari prince, he added.

He said that his grandfather, Muhammad Sharif had good terms and was also a business partner with the Qatari prince.

JIT continued with their questions and asked him about why his mother told the media, in the interviews telecast by different television channels in early 2000’s, that the London property was purchased for the stay of Sharif children’s during their study period? He answered that what his mother had said was her point of view but he became the owner of the said flats in 2006. Hussain Nawaz’s responses where similar to the concise statement he had submitted before the Supreme Court during the hearing.

JIT asked him if his sister, Maryam Nawaz, was also the beneficiary of offshore companies and did she own any part of the London property. Hussain replied in the affirmative.

JIT quizzed Hussain means through which the money had come from Pakistan. He said that he had been too young to remember these details but reaffirmed that the property was inherited by him from his grandfather

He also said that all of assets and business are legitimate.

JIT asked him if his sister, Maryam Nawaz, was also the beneficiary of offshore companies and did she own any part of the London property. Hussain replied in the affirmative.

JIT members went on to ask Hussain about the timeline of his dependence to his father to which he replied that he had been dependent till he started his own business.

On Friday, 2nd June, Hussain’s younger brother Hassan Nawaz appeared before the JIT. He had previously been expected to appear on May 31st but he had not shown up. He brought with him three volumes of documents to support his family’s claims in the Panama Papers investigation on Friday.

Unlike his elder brother, Hassan did not stop to speak to journalists instead he simply waved to his supporters and entered the JIT secretariat and underwent a seven-hour-long session with the six-member team headed by Wajid Zia, the additional director general of the Federal Investigation Agency.

Sources privy to the investigation said Friday’s session had focused on details of the businesses and transaction details of the funds Mr. Nawaz had used to establish companies in the United Kingdom.

Reportedly, the JIT questioned Mr. Nawaz with regards to an interview telecast on the BBC in which he had claimed that he was a student living in London in 1999 with no income of his own. He was asked how he managed to start his own business in London on April 12, 2001 after setting up a company named Flagship Investments Limited.

Sources aware of the proceedings have said that the questions Mr. Nawaz was asked pertained to his ownership of companies and how he managed to accumulate massive capital holdings in a short span of time.

The JIT noted that the premier’s son had admitted to having no income in 1999, but a financial report dated April 2001 showed Mr. Nawaz to have 705,000 pounds sterling to his credit. The investigation team also quizzed him about how he managed to establish 10 companies before 2005, even before his family’s Jeddah factory had been sold.

The investigators referred to a report prepared by former PPP minister Rehman Malik and the incumbent Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s ‘confessional statement’ regarding alleged money laundering by the Sharif family with particular reference to his business and the Mayfair properties owned by his elder brother, Hussain.

He took the stance that his father had been in exile when he established the companies and managed to run his business after procuring a loan. Mr. Nawaz claimed that he established the businesses in a lawful manner and presented documents in three volumes in support of his claim.

The sources said that Hassan Nawaz rejected the allegations of financial impropriety, saying that had this been the case, Mr. Malik, the interior minister under the Pakistan Peoples Party government, would have prosecuted their family.

Chief operating officer of the National Bank of Pakistan Saeed Ahmed and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar are also expected to be summoned by the JIT soon.

The timing of the leaked photo is critical. Geo tv and the likes were given ample time to create the required hype in favour of the Panama investigation accused. What was surprising for even the instigators (the accused), was PTI's Ali Zaidi's brain wave to be the pioneer by re-tweeting the leaked pic asap and can only be described as a childish discharge of an intellectually challenged over eager political worker. It was such a timely gift that the Panama accused pounced on it on all fours.

What was the purpose of this photo leak? except to be used by the accused under investigation against the JIT and the honorable bench.

In my opinion, the whole days news coverage of geo tv of this matter should be submitted as evidence in contempt of court committed by the accused in collaboration with geo and the likes.

@Farah Sohail

1. As far as Qazi family is concerned; last info I had was that they will not appear, as they have had rewards, and its not worth it for them to put everything on line.

2. The picture has been leaked from 1) Judicial Library which comes directly under the jurisdiction of 2) Law Ministry and security mechanisms are controlled by 3) Interior Ministry - rest you can connect the dots.

If anything, this leak is testament of nervousness/panic in $harif's camp.

Three level lapse, all Govt., controlled:

1. Judicial Library
2. Law Ministry
3. Interior Ministry

Security camera access is with Govt., controlled officers not opposition; Ch Nisar will have some serious questions to answer. Nothing is going right for Government. I think, they have started resorting to absolute desperate measures and starting to fire in all directions; hoping only one fire might hit "the" target!

Govt., of Pakistan is going to be ripped apart in next hearing by Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Hawks in PMLN have messed up their case; even the judges that were known Pro $harif have now very little room left to discreetly "save" $harifs.

$harif has few options left now, of which two deeply discussed yesterday were:

1. Resign before presenting himself to JIT
2. Resign after recording his statement in JIT

Which situation suits him depends on how public perception can be carved after these three recent blunders which deteriorated the case of $harifs beyond repair;

a) Tariq Shafi's blunders for $harifs are being painted by PMLN as admission under duress and threats.

b) $harif speaking through Nehal Hashmi and SCP's caution to AG that we know who is speaking in Hashmi's voice - any guess who they were referring to?

c) Leaking of picture by authorities in FULL CONTROL by Govt., cannot be termed as conspiracy of JIT as even a street hawker knows who will be the beneficiary of this leak.

--------------
As a side note; the initial plan was to leak video of Hussain with audio; but that did not enhance the narrative of $harif's as it had nothing which could be twisted and presented as "bechargi" hence the vid cap was released. Just as we all know it's in camera proceedings with video and audio recordings, which are saved in server placed in Judicial Library and same are used in this case as evidence.
----------------
In other news; yesterday's meeting in Lahore was quite hilarious :)

Hope there is not any big incident like
APS SCHOOL massacre.during the dharna of Ik. Even then nawaz was hanging by his balls. Aps incident saved his skin.plus government.too much to be a coincisidence i think .lets see what karamaat krishma is in place for nawaz sharif. Even if22o millions pakistani want to get rid of this stinking slavery democracy. But if internal masters decide in favour of ganja. Well public can stick justice up there back door....

Mujhay lagta nahi hai ke baray miaan saanp ka JIT main pesh honay ka irada hai...

I hope you are right.... I dont know.. Cant trust advocate and pakora judge.. Pakora judge is still little better..but advocate is a hopeless case..

Justice IjazulAhsan is a decent person..but the problem is tht he is the junior most in this case.... And court proceedings are directly influenced by the bench head, which unfortunately is advocate in this case..

Advocate in the previous hearing had asked JIT to respect everyone.. What if he sees...this leaked pic as a conspiracy to insult sharifs? Everyone knows tht pic is leaked by govt..but what if advocate doesnt think logically? And sees this as an opportunity to sympathise with sharifs?

.
seriousley peopel. does any one think that the investigation is goining to be transparannt, without any infulence from sittining PM................ NO CHANCE AT ALL. he will create havoc before found guilty.
he will sink the whole ship. but not surrender the helm. dont get fooled by chubby miss piggy face of nawaz sharif. THE DEVIL IN DESGUISE .......

Likelihood of this evidence being lost (hackers, server crashes etc etc?

Not likely, as it will be too obvious :nono:

Plus it gets sent to SCP after every proceeding and submitted to PMLN's most recent crush :smitten:Registrar of SCP.

The proceedings of JIT are available to SCP on daily basis; the bench does have access to what is happening in JIT on daily basis; and they (Judges) do (if required/desired) go through these as it's not possible to reconvene every two weeks without analyzing what has been done in lengthy recordings. Hence, the proceedings are shared and submitted to SCP at the end of day.

There is no disconnect and very little delay (at the end of the day) between whats done/recorded in JIT and its availability to the special bench.

And who else has access to these recordings? Government officials (non-JIT) having access means the investigation can be influenced in many ways ... what are ISI and MI people doing in JIT if this evidence is in access of others who shouldn't have?
