Note of Justice Aijal ul Ahsan is almost similar to Justice Khosa.. with one exception.. he couldn't find it appropriate to disqualify PM directly.. And I am telling you, no one even in PTI expected that PM would be disqualified..

JIT is formed to investigate crimes rather than finding who is righteous and who isn't. In any other country of the world, investigations are done by police and other investigation agencies wherever required. For example, in UK, Scotland yard would have been given the responsibility of investigating the criminal charges of money laundering.. In Israel, police investigated the PM for several days.. In Canada, appropriate institution raised concerns on Canadian PMs use of Agha Khan's resources. He is still in hot waters. So forming a JIT with members from SECP, NAB, ISI, MI and FIA/ FBR is the right decision by any standard. These kind of institutions are independent of any political bias and work objectively.

You can't even think that how much serious is forming a JIT to investigate criminal charges on a sitting PM.. Again saying, we are not talking about PMs truthfulness, for which the only punishment is de-notification. The JIT is formed according to law, consisting members from the right institutions to investigate "CRIME" of money laundering.

Any other PM in any other country of the world would have died of heart attack after hearing this verdict.. However, in Pakistan, affairs are different.. We lack people with integrity.. because most of the appointments starting from Assistant Director level are political.. Even our public service commission lacks transparency and now even the examination papers are leaked to give benefit to the favorite people of different political leaders.

When these kind of appointments started in 90s, no one realized that in 2010s, over 90 percent of the people working in these departments/ institutions would only be working for their respective political leaders. Now the situation is that, you need at least 25-30 years to get a new generation of officers with integrity, having no affiliation with any political party. Sadly, it can't happen now as the legal system and the laws are extremely flawed and weak. On top of that, you have uneducated masses who sell their votes and don't want to be part of any kind of procession against corrupt elite.

Legally, you can't say that the judgement is not right.. However, judges have completely overlooked their own remarks against the same institutions DELIBERATELY, which are assigned the task to provide one 19-20 grade officer to complete a JIT..

The current DG ISI Naveed Akhtar is related to Shareef family through non other but Maryam Safdar. The way Aitezaz Ahsan line was dropped while you can clearly hear him was a lousy attempt to shut him down.

IK is fooled again like in 2013 election when his mandate was stolen by Kiyani. I can already predict the result of next election, with Maryam Safdar meeting the first lady Michelle Obama, American NSA visiting just before the verdict, Maryam getting clean chit in Panama gate and Dawnleak as well, I can bet, under the duo of Bajwa and Naveed, she will be our next PM.

You know...I am most against NROS and talk frequently against them... And will continue to do so...

I know, we have very very few good and honest ppl, left amongst us, esp at the top....

But then, everyone is answerable for his own deeds and actions..

I honestly believe..tht not every one is a sell out.. Yes..there are very few such ppl but there are..

Consider ourselves as part of the bench... Wouldnt we have done the same...as Justice Khosa and Justice Gulzar.....irrespective of what others say? Would it have been an NRO?

What majority judges said..is none of the concern of these two judges......they stood for what they thought is right.. What else could they do..if others didnt agree with these two? I now think delay in the decision was due to this only.. Maybe these two judges tried to convince others...regd their verdict....but in the end..they might have thought..just let it be.... Otherwise there was no reason for such an unusual delay in this verdict....

If they were part of any plan or NRO...they wouldnt have been as rigid, and used such derogatory words for PM and his family in their verdict... They could have given the same verdict, which they did..while being a little bit more diplomatic... Their judgment is unusually harsh, in its tone..and was very surprising for me too.... It gave a person, like me, who hates sharif family to the core...shocks after shocks..with each line..tht I read...tht could someone really write such things...in a legal document..?..tht too, against a sitting PM?

Agar main aap ki baat maan lun..aur lagta bhi aisa hi hai..esp dawn leaks main bhi...ke majority ppl ne NRO kar liya hai... Tab bhi...kahin na kahin..kuch log aisy zuroor hotay hain..jinhein khareeda nahi jaasakta... Aap poori Pakistani awaam ko hi dekh lein.. Majority of our public is corrupt... Remember what Naveed Akhtar said when he was Cor commander karachi? The operation is not bound by time and speed. In other words "matti pao". He did f*** all and all efforts were by Bilal Akbar.

It is for the Army to clear this garbage within their ranks, before these whispers which are going around turn into loud noises.

I am fearing the day when this country becomes a battle ground between anti and pro status quo people, worse if it creeps into armed forces.

It's painful to see Raheel Shareef leave Pakistan to sort forigen nations mess when his own nation is in mess.

Resign or face lawyers' movement bigger than 2007: LHCBA to PM

In light of the Supreme Court ruling on the Panama Papers case, the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Saturday gave an ultimatum to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif: resign within a week, or face a lawyers' movement bigger than the one that followed ex-chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry's ouster in 2007.

The demand comes days after the Panama Papers case verdict was announced, directing that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) be instituted to investigate the prime minister and his sons for alleged corruption.

However, opposition parties have expressed reservations on the integrity of a probe against the premier carried out by officials that the PM himself has appointed.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), PPP and Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) have all demanded that the PM resign until the JIT has completed its investigation.

LHCBA President Zulfiqar Chaudhry, vice-president Rashid Lodhi, secretary Amir Saeed Raan and finance secretary Zaheer Butt presented their demand for the PM's resignation at a press conference. Chaudhry stressed that if the prime minister does not relinquish his post within a week, they will launch a movement bigger than the lawyers' movement for restoration of the deposed judges.

"The [Panama Papers case] decision is unanimous," said Chaudhry, referring to Thursday's verdict.

"Throughout the world, public office holders implicated in the Panama [Papers] scandal have relinquished their posts, but the prime minister is adamant to stay in power," he complained, emphasising that the bar association's demand for PM's resignation was legitimate and fair.

"How can officers under the PM conduct a fair investigation into the PM's alleged corruption?" asked Chaudhry.

Rashid Lodhi, vice president of the bar association said: "This is the first time such a high-profile case of corruption went up to the Supreme Court and some pertinent questions were raised by the court regarding the PM's money-trail. These questions can not be put ignored."

He said the apex court has rejected the prime minister's claims, and for that reason, Sharif has lost the moral authority to stay in power.

"The SC verdict has, in effect, indicted the prime minister," said Amir Saeed Raan, secretary of the LHCBA.

"Two of the five judges have made it clear that the PM is not 'Sadiq' and 'Ameen'," he stated, adding that the prime minister should have the courage to resign, instead of letting his own appointees investigate him for alleged corruption.

The legal fraternity in Pakistan flexed its muscles back in 2007, when ex-president Pervez Musharraf ousted the then chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The lawyers' movement that followed, gained enough momentum to result in the reinstatement of the deposed judiciary.

The LHCBA representatives stressed that their demand must not be seen as to be politically motivated.

Reading through the judgement, I fail to understand when the judiciary knows Nawaz Sharif is corrupt, how is it assuming a fair investigation can take place under his premiership?

When judiciary knows that FIA, NAB and FBR should have taken action on Panama papers and that these institutions failed to take action solely because the heads of these institutions are Sharif appointees, how does the judiciary expect these institutions to investigate fairly now? The failure of these institutions in the first place left no avenue than to file a case in the Supreme Court.

Now the judgement has left it upto Sharif to resign. Why will he resign? Why? He is not there to serve the country. He is a mafia head which judiciary itself admitted. Why will he resign when the reason to get to that position was to amass power and wealth for himself and his family?

My problem with this judgement is that it gives Nawaz Sharif a lifeline. This is only possible if some money or some material offer has changed hands. In a country where everything is on sale, there is no doubt why a judge or a general cant be bought. The price has to be fair.

The judiciary has lost my trust. The reason is simple. It knows the investigation agencies are corrupt and they cant investigate properly. It knows Nawaz Sharif is a thief. This is all written in their judgement. But it will not de-seat an assembly member despite knowing this man is thief. With so much learned and scholarly observations in the judgement, the judiciary does not know the basic facts that have ruined our country? This is not believable!
