Pakistan’s overseas assets at risk after court verdict

If we can prove that this company was involved in kickbacks to the like of Zardari then the case will be wrapped up in our favour.

Also this company failed to produce the power they were required by contract and at the price on contract too.

It is likely that those lawyers appointed by PMLN to argue the case were told to lose the case. After all, Nawaz and Zardari only lined their pockets without an iota of good intentions for Pakistan.

Please do your research before commenting and read the award. The case has already been 'wrapped' up against you. The quantum has also been decided. Now the only issue left is enforcement. Also do a bit of research on BIT treaties.

Look how callous PPP had been in looting this country. In order to give cover to their corrupt practices, they used state's sovereign guarantees as a back up.

55 MW at Rs 41!! This really stinks of corruption.

Zardari should pay this.
Zardari and Pee pee pee have to pay back 11 years of Sindh Money and 5 years of Pakistan National Govt Money …… Amount will be 100+ Billion $$$$$$$$$$$$
May Allah Curse Raja rental ………. May Allah make his life Painful ,,,,, May Allah Make him example for others . Ameen.

That company is no angel either. It worked hand in hand with Zardari and co. There were most likely kickbacks involved. Pakistan should do everything in its power to make sure this company doesn't get paid...not to be dishonest about payments...but to send out a message to any company willing to act as an enabler for some corrupt asshole.

Imagine if such a precedent had been set already...where a company's millions of dollars worth of payment was withheld...then during Zardari era no company would have agreed to provide rental power plants despite Raja rental's plans. They would've been forced to actually build dams, or solar/coal/gas power plants rather than this joke of rental power plants.

In case if Pakistan loses and has to pay...then seize all assets of everyone that was part of the Zardari government(Zardari/Raja Pervaiz/Rehman Malik/etc.)...take everything away from them...every single penny...and if it's still not enough then hang these mofos as punishment for the nation having to pay.

I have no doubt in my mind that this settlement, if paid, a fraction of the amount from it will go to Zaradari's offshore account

Pakistan as a state made that deal. Company and the arbitration courts will not care whether the government was a caretaker one or, elected one. If the company ends up winning, they will get substantial amount.

Yes. What’s right is not always the best. All of the above cases you mentioned will indeed have serious implications. Not sure about Nawaz though. He is done and dusted.
agree to that but common man will ask why the judiciary acting now where were they why wasnt this stopped years back and a 1000 more questions .. once it affects common man and they get out on the streets than it becomes very tough to resolve

Not going to happen. This company has lost a lot of money because of us and they will want to be paid back. Our deals to acquire military hardware are a separate matter not just for the Turks but also for us. I doubt our army will be willing to back down on its purchases because of some matter involving the civilian government. Army is happy to leech all of the country's resources without thinking of the consequences to other parts of the government. Defence spending is our second largest budgetary item after debt servicing. The army's track record has always been that it puts itself first.

You need to read the below document as to why Pakistan was correct in its stance.

Why is that plenty of IPPs are running successfully since the last decade but the RPPs were scruitinized? This was an outright corruption by all parties involved including the turkish company.

Army is doing just fine, its the civilian government that has been happy to leech the country's resources.

As said by a fellow member A country to country relationship is much bigger in scope than just one company's payment. It's time for the government to make a stand on it.
