Pakistan's Nuclear Submarine Development | News and Discussions

Congratulations to India!!Hope our economy gets better and we will do the same

.
There are some weapons which are just not attainable by Pakistan which India has alt
Ready

NUCLEAR SUBS
AIRCRAFT CARRIERS
PHALCON CLASS AWACS
C17 strategic transports
Rafale type combat planes

These systems are simply way way way to costly for Pakistan type nation

A waste to go this route; AIPs are good enough. Right now there air power is severely depleted.

We will have 11 AIP subs soon but unless the S20s house our second strike then our own nuclear subs are required to launch nuclear war heads into india from sea.

Its possible some sort of accommodation/arrangements have been made vis a vis the coming S20s but if not then the 4 subs being made in Pakistan may act as a test bed for a "indigenous " sub that will eventually house our sea based second strike

We are getting 11 AIP subs altogether, our coastline isn't massive, the advantages of our subs over nuclear powered ones in our area of action is obvious but nuclear poweredsubs are coming

Dont need aircraft carriers

We are content with our Saab and Chinese awacs we have superb coverage snd are linked into beidou

Our nation is large but not massive we can get to the front line much quicker than india what do we need C17s for

Combat planes, yes.
But plan will be to keep improving jf17s, increase f16 tally, wait for Chinese 5th gen option to mature possibly j31 although there has been recent talk of an alternative

Bottom line is Pakistan prepares to defend itself, your military knows not to underestimate our resolve even if indian fan boys are deluded

The trouble with nuclear subs is that you would need at least 3 boats. Since you will be building them at home, should you go this route, you expenditure will be more than half in local currency. Besides you would be going into baracuda class type subs.

For now investing in the infrastructure of building subs at home must be the only priority. Take care of today...

11 subs in the current planning...the nuber could go up after after a few years... If you choose to acquire Turkish U-boats even in their present form... then your shallow waters will be well protected. 200 nm out at sea well covered.

Anyway, what is the integrated PNS doctorine? Just looking at these assets on their own does not make sense.

Does PNS has an integrated, wholistic defencive approach?

ASSALAM, I have been reading since 3 years about the Nuclear sub.. where is it or in which phase is it..???
Then you are too young or have not been paying attention because people have been talking about it for 15 years or so now.
There was a program, a project for nuclear marine propulsion but that was shelved and sent to cold storage. Nothing substantial ever since. Rest all is just talk!

@Rafi has mentioned that it was successfully tested with help from our friends. An unnamed south american country (Brazil?) has been assisting in the development of the sub.

Well AFAIK the propulsion project was put on hold in late Musharraf era and have not started since then. Frankly, i am quite sure about it. Also about "testing" it on board an other vessel is quite far fetched, this is one technology that even the closest of friends usually do not cooperate on. Also about the sub development, there are some serious questions about the authenticity of such a claim. One being "where" as we know we do not have a secret Sub base and manufacturing facility. Anyway, people have kept talking about it for 15 years and they will do so for next many as well. I would suggest you and all of us take it with a pinch of salt. The reality of naval procurement will for now be related to those conventional submarines from China and a few frigates/heavy corvettes and the project seem to be stretching over a decade.

This project, will change the dynamics of the region. Nuff said.

even if we get a nuke sub, ww will need atleast 3 subs for constant patrol of one sub. can we afford three subs, i dont think so...than there is cost of operations, countries like england cant afford it any more and have a debate of wether new should be built...i think better to simply go with conventional subs...when it comes to india, it has desires of being a miltary power, these desire are expensive and frankly uncalled for..better spend the money on your people better ment...sooner or later the people will realize this
