Friend, we are not talking for Naval role but a deep strike aircraft which has terrain following capability and range similar to Mirage if not better. If you look at France, they kept Mirage IVs for that specific role. Considering how F-7pg was derived, there was a good possibility that jh-7 could have been customised and still that remains on the table with newer version coming up.

Lets say PAF has 5 Billion USD to buy a type of aircraft. what would be the best use ?

1. Keep upgrading and adding JF-17 Block III in large numbers?
2. Buy lots of second hand used aircraft like M2K or any other type like non upgraded used F-16's, if available?
3. Buy a new type of small number of aircrafts? and then what will it be; stealth or 4.5 gen, e.g. J-31 or EF-2000?
4. Keep the money to buy own stealth program aircraft of project Azm ?

non of the j series is cheaper than 70 million

you do need atleast 300 thunders just to match the future IAF light procurement aircraft which will be either the tejas/gripen both of which will be out performed by thunder III (current version matches/outperforms gripen C and tejas)
