Who was talking about SA Cheetahs here??
Due to current situation PAF is stuck with JFT to replace Mirages but their priority is to get another platform which is medium class bird with 4+ gen capabilities, JFT currently can not pull 9Gs and will not have OLS too.

Man, chill out; you have to get out of your defensive mode of thinking..... THere was full option to go to Cheetahs - where do you think the IFR plumbing and radios are from on the ROSE not to mention Raad? We had our engineers over there and yet the opportunity was perfect to bring in Cheetah conversion and you would not be stuck with all the hodgepodge mishmashes of Mirage fleets. An entire infrastructure and generation training/education would have been had to take it forward but as usual lack of foresight...

Why dont you take a step back and reflect first before writing. It is grand to have ideas but where is the money going to come from? You also had the option to take F1AZ or the upgraded version; that too did not go anywhere. An entire decade spent in the wilderness.

A upgraded mirage--fresh technology and opportunity to learn to build an upgrade on the aircraft---.

Absolutely..... a huge huge opportunity squandered; let alone how many other clients would have had theirs converted.
Cheetah was in itself a complete remake; every bit of the airframe was rebuilt or changed with newer materials; it also carried over HMDS system which even now PAF is not having.
